    Sort of.

They are making all things compatible through the 3 consoles, so it isn't quite the generation jump we typically see with new consoles

Definitely a huge "**** You" to Sony though.

VR looks to be the future in a big way.

Scorpio will be $600 to $800. You would struggle to build a PC that could push 4k for $800

I am not so sure the market will support that price point for a console though. Especially considering the need to have a 4K TV as well.

It is one thing when your computer monitor is $100-150. It's another when your TV is $500+

4k tvs of decent size are now easy to find for under 500. I just bought a refurb 43" vizio for 300. And that is going to get a lot cheaper a lot quicker with the new line of Vizios coming out.

I suppose if you go the refurb route you can probably find them cheaper, and I know that the prices of TV's will drop drastically with the next line and with the more accessible the technology becomes. Just think buying a TV is a bigger cost than buying a monitor. So having to buy the TV and the Console suddenly prices out a large chunk of the market if the Console is up between $600-800

I agree. I think it will be highly niche

While I am sure there will be a market for it, there always seems to be one for outrageously priced gadgets, it doesn't seem to make sense from a video game perspective. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

I don't think they can have it priced like this. Probably $500 (upper limit being $600), but remember what they did with the 360 for a while, where they sold it at a loss. Just because it is difficult to make a PC for $800 these days, doesn't mean it will be priced one-to-one like a PC would be, Microsoft is playing a numbers game. They can sell their first X consoles at a loss but it will work out if they sell enough and get into enough homes. Then at some point the scale will tip and they will be profitable again. Also that scale will tip faster than it otherwise would because of the effect of increased production from Xbox manufacturing.
