Turner Gill fired?

And all hours of the day and night. Do you think Nik or Skiddy sleep?

I am looking forward to an extended dirt nap.

Texas has a way of sucking the life out of you if you let it.
Time to get a break from Dallas, Dallas.

Ask Santa to book you a trip to Boulder or Autzen or the Coliseum for the 2012 season and give yourself new lease on life.

God bless you. Great advice. This place really blows.

Allbuffs requires some real committment Dallas. Go big or go home.

he is not that good of a coach, doesn't recruit that well and really does not fit the kansas landscape. mangino had the bar pretty high

Not true. Many, many huskers came over to guarantee his success. They absolutely vouched for him.

I feel like I have been slacking also. I am going to drop my basketball and football tickets so I can have a few extra allbuff nights. Hours of my time wasted driving to boulder to watch a game live. Must allbuffs better.

Not sure why KU did this. Maybe there was some personality friction.

My theory (and it's probably a bad one) is that KU got the crap scared out of it during this whole conference realignment talk. I think they feel that they need to win now or risk being left out of any super conference(s) that may emerge.

I think there may be some truth to this. When they fired Mangino, the Big 12 was still a viable, strong, nationally respected conference. It's rapidly devolving into a punchline. They're losing their longest running rival and are in a dying conference. They don't control a lot of TV sets, and are largely irrelevant - football wise. They see the writing on the wall and figure they need to get their ship turned around quickly.

Absolutely. They are watching Boise and Air Force pass them up in relevance and are probably panicked.

Does Mangino get too much credit for what he did at Kansas? The Orange Bowl season was obviously great, but the overall tenure was very comparable to Glen Mason, especially when you look at their overall records in conference games (both well under .500 FWIW).

Yeah at the local All-You-Can-Eat. They are still recovering financially from his presence.

What coach with future aspirations is going to take the Kansas job? KU has always been a basketball school - they invented the sport. Bill Self is really the AD. Whatever he wants, he gets. Mangino's fight's with the basketball program are well documented when he was there. He was a damn good coach, but always the step child as far as the administration was concerned.

Absolutely. He had one magical season that, coincidentally, had a very favorable schedule -- the squawks didn't have to play uTerus nor the boomers. Other than that, his tenure was mostly mediocre.

KU's "Dream Team"

HC - Sweater-vest Tressel
OC - Slick Rick
DC - The Zooker

back to reality... they will probably end up with:

HC - Houston Nutt
OC - Dan Hawkins
DC - Ron Collins
