EDSBS does good work.
Maroon SEC t-shirts bob in crowds milling around Kyle Field's gates. SEC flags fly over tailgates, a slew of them, in fact, enough to qualify as several very large loads of laundry. Mike Slive would be overjoyed to survey the camp. It's as if a hundred thousand soldiers had in an instant switched allegiances, and turned toward a new enemy. They do not know who to shoot at, however, or what is coming their way. The comfort of a familiar enemy is gone.

I don't read the article because it had a lot of words in it but nobody wants those ****ers in the SEC and it ain't because we are scared of them on the field.

are you worried about getting a new tv deal and making MORE money?

You have no reason to be scared of them on the field. A&M is the classic under-achiever in that regard. Their fans are... weird. Your Arky friends can tell you all about them.

I really don't think by adding two teams our average is going to go up but I haven't done the math.

The two schools you added bring some very significant television markets with them. The SEC will make more money off of their media contract now than before.

Love that the sec fan's first response was to hate the length of the article. As the article says, a&m is gonna fit right in.

Seriously, that was good writing.

Roughly the SEC makes $205M/yr for football from TV contracts. That is a little over $17M/yr per team. Will those teams add $34M to the TV contract? I don't know but I don't see it.

Thanks for posting it Snow. You give me a week and I would still have trouble trying to put the Kyle Field gameday experience into words (along with A&M in general). That place is just different.

If it was about beer or something interesting I would have read it. I have already wasted too much time on things concerned with texas today.

I have friends that are A&M fans. I anxiously await the ass-kicking that awaits them.

See that is where we differ. It was a well written article. A little wordy but still a good read. All the internet banter you posted earlier today, three lines in and I my eyes started to bleed.

Edit: btw, nice job living up to the stereotype

You don't take football seriously enough.

here let me put it in a way someone from Alabama can understand.

Alabama Alice is one of the slimmer ladies in Tuscaloosa, she only has 12 rolls around her stomach. This is a sense of great pride for her and is happy to talk about herself at the local wal-mart. You might have heard the expression SEC-size well that is where it comes from. The expression SEC-speed is due to her eating. Every year Alice is carefully measured and for the past few years she has had exactly 12 rolls. This get her an extra-large pizza that is devoured with such intensity a ferocity that the entire south was buzzing with excitment. If this tiny thing has such size and speed the rest of the country has no chance. This year Alice is going to be measured and they are going to find 14 rolls. Instead of the extra-large pizza, she now gets to move into the jumbo sized pie. I know there is a concern that the extra slices in the pie will lessen the pizza, like they use the same amount of toppings from before and spread it over a larger pizza, but in the end I think you will be hoping that Alice gets 16 rolls because I know you can't wait to see a pizza of that size.

This is dumber than most posts on an Alabama board.

Haven't been to Kyle Field, so my favorite part of this was making fun of Texas folk:
A clutch of Texas fans next to me watches. "They're gonna regret this." "Why?"
"Because...because they're not going to make more money, one."
"They're going to make more money," I say.
"Well, they're not going to make as much money as they could."
"They're going to make more money."
"Well, okay. How about this: they're gonna get killed in the SEC."
"Probably. That could take a while."

why do you think the SEC would invite A&M and Mizzou to the conference if there wasn't more money. I'm sure they looked at the tv contract the PAC just got and realized that they can do much better since they are the hottest conference in college football now. By adding the two teams, the contract is now going to be reviewed and you better believe that it is going to make them richer in the process.

Don't confuse him with too many words. NASCAR....wooooo whoooooo. Suck it Gordon! Was that easier?

Bama, you don't know how this affects your conference earnings? Stick around, you'll up your message board game if you pay attention.

That sounds feasible. I know total money > greater on any new contract. I don't know avg money/school will be greater after. We will see in a couple of years.

Are you able to read my posts? Proof will be at the SEC meetings they hold in Destin every summer and hand out checks to the schools. I understand the contract will be more. Will each school make more? I don't know that.
