Tclem - Coaches "can coach against the best in the country on any level"

Clemons believes the Buffs are "a few recruits away . . . there's a lot coming back. Our coaching staff is phenomenal; they can coach against the best in the country on any level . . . it's going to come down to a couple of spots that need to be shored up offensively on the line, defensively on the line."

:wow:

This from a guy that was open about his disdain about the staff before the season. Nothing more fanatical than the converted right?

damn impressed with that quote, especially from where he was coming from earlier in the year...ps snow your headed for 20k... you got anything?

Hopefully nothing but a little dignity and self-respect.

Yeah, we're talking Snow, so it's a longshot, but we can hope...

I don't think anyone is going to start poaching our staff quite yet

I can understand TClem being a bit cynical about the new coaching staff when they came in.

Here's a kid who was pretty heavily recruited coming out of HS and went to Michigan with an expectation of having a shot at being a star.

All the sudden the coaches who recruited him were gone and here comes RichRod. "Hi son, hope you like to block because that what you are going to be doing, if we don't move you to safety, and by the way as soon as I get my recruits in here you're likely to be on the bench." Suddenly he is considered an attitude problem at Michigan and decides his best bet is to transfer.

Next step is to decide to transfer to Colorado where the "Mastermind from Boise State" was going to rebuild the CU program into a multi-faced offense that would feature big recievers in a dynamic offense. Instead he spends his transfer year figuring out the Hawk talked a good game but was clueless. He ends up in an offense that has no real direction and no clue what it is doing. Instead of getting coaching and being a key player he gets to watch Scotty McKnight get all the balls because the QB can't or doesn't have time to find anyone else.

Finally Scotty and Hawk jr. are gone but so is Hawk. Now coming into his senior year he gets a new coaching staff. Logically he is going to be left out again as they build to the future and his college career is basically wasted. This gets reenforced by comments that the coaches aren't happy with what they are seeing from him and to the point that he ends up getting benched temporarily.

Fortunately for him and CU, Embree and staff decided that they were going to make the seniors the first class of the new Buffs and they busted their tails to get it done. Instead of letting his season go to waste, eventually TClem bought in and the result was a second half of the season that at worst should get him into an NFL camp, likely as a draft choice.

I think this is a further sign that we have the right people in place running the program. Coaches can recruit all they want, if the players don't buy in the program isn't going to succeed. Getting a guy like TClem bought in shows that the coaches aren't blowing smoke. They will have more credibility with future recuits, the current players and graduating players like TClem will give strong support to the coaches recruiting efforts and this work ethic will translate into results on the field.

I would love to see TClem make the pros, then use his voice to promote the CU program. Nobody has quite the experiences he has had and he can be a strong voice about the program to future recruits, players, and supporters.

Fantastic post. They turned a guy from no nfl shot to a draft pick.

He became a human highlight reel the last three games or so. He obviously came to the realization that the staff wasn't hawking snake oil.

Well said.

Very well said.

Two things: 1. Let's not all get too head over heels for a staff after one year. People talked themselves into Hawkins. 2. This is a huge recruiting season with all the coaching changes in our division. This, with a so called staff that can recruit, could ultimately decide how we feel at this time next year.

"a so called staff that can recruit,..."? Somehow, I don't think that came out quite right.

How many people actually read mtnbuffs novel-sized posts these days? I mean aside from scanning the gist of them. Dude you can say everything you're going for in at least half the length you write...

For example:

"I understand why TClem was cynical of the staff at the onset. He had great talent out of high school but the coaching change at Michigan made ignored his skill set and in favor of a new system. Then a snake-charming Hawk convinced him to come to CU and become a star of the high octane offense and he got punk'd by a sub talent mini hawk qb and coach.

"After a rocky start and some tough love from CUs new coaching staff, TClem finally sucked it up and bought into another new system and went from an apparent bust to the star receiver of the offense.

"Clearly this shows that the coaches know how to make the most from the talent on our roster. Taking a guy that has been **** on his whole career and and getting him to buy into the system and thrive should show us and future players what kind of coaches we've got. They get the most out of the players and make the work for their success.

"I wish TClem the best in the future and hope he will actively support the program for years to come."

Hahah, I'm just giving you ****. You have good points buried in all pseudo-entertaining fluff. I just think it is funny how consistently you write those thesis posts

Can somebody summarize this for me?

Can somebody summarize this for me?
No problem. TimmyDUBs is pointing out that MTNbuffs' posts are some times voluminous. It's done in a tongue in cheek style and is intended to be a gentle ribbing.

TimmyDUBs provides the following examples of mtnbuffs said wordiness:

1. "I understand why TClem was cynical of the staff at the onset. He had great talent out of high school but the coaching change at Michigan made ignored his skill set and in favor of a new system. Then a snake-charming Hawk convinced him to come to CU and become a star of the high octane offense and he got punk'd by a sub talent mini hawk qb and coach."

While TimmyDUBs doesn't provide an alternative suggestion, perhaps he meant something like this:

Toney Clemmons had reason to be suspect and cynical of the new staff when they first came to town. He was an amazing talent as emerged from his secondary educational institution, but due to circumstances beyond his control, a change of coaching staff at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor occurred. The new coaching staff at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor did not value his skill set as highly as the previous coaching regime. TClem then sought to transfer to a program that would appreciate what he could do. He chose to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder. A coach there convinced him that amazing things would happen due to the twinkle in his eye. He lied. Things did not happen as they were promised, however, the juice boxes kept him hydrated.

Then TimmyDUBs pointed out another quote:

"After a rocky start and some tough love from CUs new coaching staff, TClem finally sucked it up and bought into another new system from an apparent bust to the star receiver of the offense."

Perhaps this would have been a better way to phrase it:

Things started out badly in 2011 when the Buffs traveled to Hawaii and lost the game and had to look at CSU players and fans while badly beating them. The new coaching staff methodically and calmly explained how the young receiver could be successful. This thoughtful approach brought about a change in the young man for the better. He actually caught the balls that were thrown to him.

Then TimmyDUBs submitted this quote for our perusal:

"Clearly this shows that the coaches know how to make the most from the talent on our roster. Taking a guy that has been **** on his whole career and and getting him to buy into the system and thrive should show us and future players what kind of coaches we've got. They get the most out of the players and make the work for their success."

Now, I do not want to pretend to know who TimmyDUBs is, nor do I want put unwanted words in his mouth but may he had something like this in mind:

Our coaching staff, comprised of Head Coach Jon Embree and company knows how to get performance out of the young men that make up the University of Colorado Golden Buffaloes. Taking a guy that has not been able to reach his potential throughout his whole career and and getting him to buy into the system and thrive should show us and future players what kind of coaches we've got. They get the most out of the players and make them work for their success.

Then mtnbuffs at one point in his overly large post says:

"I wish TClem the best in the future and hope he will actively support the program for years to come."

I would like to think that mtnbuffs meant this:

I wish Toney Clemmons the best in the future in all of his endeavors and hope he will actively support the program with fat NFL style donations for years to come.

Finally, TimmyDUBs wraps up by saying:

"Hahah, I'm just giving you ****. You have good points buried in all pseudo-entertaining fluff. I just think it is funny how consistently you write those thesis posts"

By saying this in such a verbose fashion he clouds his meaning, which I interpret to be:

You make me laugh. I enjoy teasing you with fewer words. Your posts are full of good points buried in a lot, and I mean a lot of words that are not heavy. You amuse me greatly with these posts that have too many words that are difficult to read from an iphone. You also amuse me with the regularity of your gigantic posts.

Does that help?

I'll read a novel from MTN, but you....?
