Full on Assault on BCS going on right now. Pushing for +1 pretty unanimously. Looks like ESPN has decided it wants more $. FINALLY. Also, Herby wants no more 6 and 6 bowl teams.

MAKE IT BE SO.

It sounds like the push is in a different direction from the BCS organization. They're trying to avoid all of the anti-trust battles by getting out of the conference affiliations. I don't think we'll have any more "BCS auto-bid conferences". The major bowls will go back to having direct conference tie-ins and the BCS will have nothing to do with that. It will only select 2 teams to play in a championships game and that game may not even be at a current bowl site. Jerry World?

The "final word" seemed to be: No more AQ, and a new game based on a plus 1 format. So teams may be playing two games after New Years. Weird, but acceptable.

I think having the thought of an upset (albiet, very unlikely) in the Pac12 CCG last night having a 7-6 UCLA team playing in the Rose bowl against possibly a top 10 Wisconsin or Mich St and the idea that so many teams ranked in the top 10 arent even conference winners (Bama, Boise, Arkansas...) made some heads turn

+1 is a crappy system, but it's better than what we have.

edit: After thinking about it for a minute, if they could go fully back to what they had before with the conference tie-ins and then add the plus 1 (which I guess is what is being proposed), then I would like that a lot. If it means more football on New Years Day, I'm definitely in favor of that, too. I miss having 7 or 8 bowl games on New Years Day.

One of the few things I agree with Turdstreet on. The only way 6 & 6 teams don't go to bowl games is to get rid of some of the toilet bowl games that have been added over the last 10 -15 years. That won't happen though, because to much $$$ would be lost across the board.
