Koehler has been on the radar of several schools for a long time, Hawaii offered him as a 8th grader. His older brother was an Army All-American and committed to Arizona (we were in the mix), but he left there sometime ago and am not sure where he is now. He performed well at the All-Poly camp last summer, so he should be known to our coaches.

Interesting video. He reminds me of Siragusa this year. Some good highlights on that breakdown of Koehler and Kory Rasmussen going at it. He's #49 at DT in some of those highlights.

IIRC, his brother(Solomon) had question marks about his grades. Does anyone out there know if this also is the case for Reeve? You'd think he'd have more offers by now.

Now has an offer from us. Good prospect, but I think Rivals is overrating him a bit. Also is a sign that this OL class is not nearly as talented or deep as the 2012 class.

Have I mentioned how important I think OL recruiting is going to be this year?

Do we expect him to follow the general Hawaiian trend of deciding late?

I never expect early commitments from Hawaii.

It seems weird, though. If you lived in Hawaii, why on earth would you want to make trips to the mainland in January? Many of them do it that way, though.

Offered by: Arizona St., California, Colorado, Hawaii, Kansas, Washington, Washington St., Yale

Doesn't seem like the hottest offer list. According to Rivals, the offer list posted here is wrong as he has interest in Oregon and Utah but no offer from either school.

Seems like we could compete for this guy, especially with our Polynesian connections.

Thoughts?

That is a pretty solid offer list. Why do you think otherwise?

I would think being ranked #1 at the position I'd see USC, Oregon maybe even an Oklahoma...some kind of first tier school making offers.

Like someone mentioned...maybe Rivals has him a bit overrated???

Ah, so you meant something different. Thanks for explaining it.

FWIW, Rivals is updating their rankings this week, so that will not hold. Koehler is a borderline 4* prospect and his new rating on Rivals will likely be closer to the bottom of the top 250 than #1 OG.

From what I have read on different sites, we are not really in it at the moment.

What different sites do you read?

This is too bad. I really like this kids film. He gets vertical on his drive blocks and stays that way. He does stop his feet on impact sometimes but gets them moving again fairly quickly. I hope he comes around. Should be a smart kid if he is getting offers (not sure Ivy does athletic scholarships) from Yale.

Not sure having four star Asiata from St. Louis hs leave us after a season helps in any way, shape or form to land another island kid, much less from the exact school. It's a little bit of a black eye for us honestly regardless of reason.

Not sure it hurts all that much. Anyone who knew Asiata knew that he wasn't a scholar and they wouldn't be surprised that his heart wasn't in the college experience. Parker is still here and thriving.

Tennessee is the leader for Koehler ATP, most think he is a silent commit & is just waiting until the Army All-American bowl to announce.

His godparents are originally from Clarksville, Tn. & still visit multiple times a year. He flew in w/ them a few weeks ago to attend our camp & tour the campus ect..

Thanks for the insight.

Hawaiian prospects like to take visits late and commit late, as a general rule. I'm not sure that the Juda Parker recruitment last year is doing you any favors at St. Louis HS, so the family thing better be working for you (probably is with a Hawaiian recruit).

I'm hoping it doesn't hurt us w/ Koehler but all signs point to it not. How is Parker doing for you guys?

Should get a lot of PT this year. He was running with the 1s this spring, but didn't seize the job. He'll have to win it in fall camp. At this point, we don't know whether to be worried about him or write it off to him lining up against our left tackle (Bakhtiari), who is a future high NFL pick and technician type, and it just being hard to distinguish yourself against him.
