Virginia Tech dominates whole first half but only gets a couple of FGs.

Last minute of the first half Robinson throws it up grabs on 3rd and 17. VT DB goes for the easy pick, bounces off his teammate and the ball falls to Hemingway who makes a sick catch and scores.

Now VT fumbles the KO, Talk about the luck of the bounce..

Now Michigan tries a fake FG, the holder throws up a wounded duck into the middle of nowhere and in the middle of a bunch of VT defenders the ball touches a defender and is caught by the snapper. First and Goal Meatchicken.

Can't believe this stuff.

The quality of play between tonight and the two games last night is pretty telling. Neither of these teams belongs in the BCS

You got 2 teams to replace them?

Take away the reputation of who travels well and put in the most deserving teams based on the rankings. In this case, that would be Kansas State and Boise State. It's not a "sexy" matchup, but neither VT nor UM was deserving of being in a BCS bowl this year.

Really?!? :wow:
Two teams with combined records of 21-4?

UM having beat more bowl teams (8) than any other team this year?

Please explain.

In that case put Arkansas in there. The 2-team limit in BCS bowls makes no sense.

I rather watch the CU and Oregon game over than watch Boise State play Kansas State in a bowl game

That just shows how unreliable and idiotic the BCS formula rankings are.

KjSU lost 58-7 at home to a mediocre OU team.

BSU ... yes they beat a solid UGA team in the first game of the season, but then played a very weak MWC schedule and lost at home to a TCU team that wasn't as good as last year's.

UM lost to Mich St and Iowa ... two pretty solid teams.

Va Tech lost to the same team twice (Clemson) and to no one else.

I'm not saying that those teams you mention (and you) don't have an argument ... but I think saying that these two teams (UM and Va Tech) don't belong in the BCS is a bit over the top.

I agree.

The system we have is the system we have, and it shows that Boise State and Kansas State belonged. If Michigan and VT were 7th/8th (due to Arkansas being ineligible as the 3rd SEC team), I'd support them being in the BCS. It provides more solid evidence for who belongs than our personal arguments for teams we like. BCS bowls selecting teams based on who travels well is asinine. Why wasn't Ohio State selected for the BCS this year? They travel extremely well.

Your last sentence (bolded) debunks your whole argument. OSU wasn't in a BCS game because their record (6-6) didn't merit it.

And since this isn't a playoff (where teams are seeded and even the lowest seed can theoretically win the NC) it comes down to who are the best teams that will also draw the greatest national interest.

I'm not saying I like it (I absolutely HATED when the BCS matched TCU and BSU a couple of years ago ... essentially shoving them aside out of the national championship picture) ... and why I want to see a true playoff (eight teams at most) ... but until we have that, this is what we get. But I still say that your statement that neither of these teams belong in the BCS this year is misplaced.

My last sentence is based off of your argument. If you think it's ridiculous then perhaps you've noticed your logic is flawed. You're setting a dangerous, and ****** precedent if you are selecting teams to the BCS based on who travels well. Who says the cut-off in the future will be the 13th ranked team in the BCS? Why not grab Ohio State if it were to bring the "greatest national interest"? K-State and Boise State deserve to be there, however unsexy that matchup would be.

Hell, just put Notre Dame in a BCS game every year if you want TV sets and ticket sales...

Va Tech coming back. Tied up. Don't think I would have gone for 2 but they made it.

If you miss you kill a lot of the momentum you have just gained, extra point gives the message to your team that the game isn't over and that you will score again.

The "Irrelivant Losers Bowl" Notre Dame vs. Nebraska, automatic sell out and at least one of them has to win that way, the loser still explains it away blaming the refs, etc..
