I want leaders

I've grown totally frustrated with these supposed four star guys and hoping one or two might commit. You know what? Their time is about passed. If they really want to play for CU then give a damned commitment. Be a leader! If they really want to play here they need to take a stand. Commit and get others to climb on board. Frankly, I'm sick of being used as some sort of pawn in a recruiting war. Those guys love seeing us fawn all over them IMO. I'm sick of being a pawn. Sorry. Go ahead and send my rant to the island Mr. Junta.

I, for one, am shocked that DBT might have an emotionaly-driven outburst regarding anything...especially recruiting!

I get what you're saying, and I totally appreciate the sentiment, but I don't really think it's fair to the high school kids in question. They are trying to decide where they want to spend the next 4-5 years of their lives, and which school will forever be their alma mater -- that's a pretty big decision. I know it would be great if they decide now for the domino effect, but I don't really think that translates into a lack of leadership once they commit. Having been in a recruiting-type situation (not as an athlete, but coming out of grad school), I get that a lot of them are genuinely conflicted at this point, and I don't think it will affect their ability to fully buy in and be leaders once they make their choice. I just hope that choice is with us.

Well, I'm a man. I'm over forty. And sick of waiting for these snotty nose kids to make up their minds! It's driving me wacky!

Yeah, and you thought that we were all wrong and that Hawkins deserved more time as coach at Colorado. What your towering intellect doesn't take into account is that these kids are making possibly the biggest decision of their lives at this point. They aren't like us that they bleed for Colorado, and they have the right to decide what is best for them. Also, we haven't signed anybody yet so it is a little premature to be going off of the deep end on player decisions.

I just want a truly credible class. One that history will establish as a program changer.
We started out decent hopefully we don't flesh out with leftovers.

**** you, asshole.

I came to kind of retract what I had posted which was out of frustration. Then I saw ****edup's response and got pissed again,

At any rate, screw him/her. I'm just frustrated with the week after week after week of no good news on the recruiting front. I understand its a difficult decision. I also understand that there is probably a lot more "behind the scenes" stuff going on and that it is the coaching staff's responsibility to keep recruits apprised of what other recruits are doing.

If I had it to post all over again, I would have changed the title to something like "Frustrated with recruiting progress" or something.

Carry on.

What the hell? Are we posting in code now?

I've hated waiting for good news with the four stars as well. However, after thinking about where we were at this year at this point, we're heading in the right direction with recruits. Hopefully things continue to improve and we see the results that we expected when this staff was hired.

While I do not intend to be inflammatory here and I will reserve judgement until NSD, is it not the case that we overlooked JE and EB's inexperience because they are supposed to be superstar recruiters?

Big part of it. I'd caution, though, that judging a recruiting class on NSD is like judging an NFL draft the before the rookies have played a down. It's fun, but it's completely opinion and speculation other than talking about our recruiting "wins" and "losses" when we went head to head with other programs.

We are/were in on a lot of these higher-rated guys because we've offered their friends (i.e. Crawley, McNamara, Wright, Rippy). Playing in college with your boys sounds fun, but winning is more fun. These 4/5 star guys just aren't that likely to sign with a 3-win team. That's why next year is so important. If we can get 6 wins and go to a bowl, I think we can land more high profile recruits.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think we may end up filling the rest of the class with 3 stars or below. Maybe I'm just down because of McNamara, because I really felt we would get him. What he said when comparing us to OU resonated with me though, and I think a lot of these kids think that way.

I'd hate it if I came across as unappreciative of the men who have committed. I embrace and appreciate every single one of them and look forward to them becoming the core of CU's resurgence.
