Washington offering a blank check to get Tosh Lupoi from Cal

Hey Cal and Udub recruits! Want a more stable coaching staff this year that you already know? It's over here.

What does this guy - only 6 years removed from college- do that make him such a great recruiter?

Maybe the Buffs should give him as much money as he wants to come here :smile2:

He is a great xbox player from what I have heard.

It probably won't happen.

But Tosh, one of if not the best recruiter in the country, is being paid $164k by Cal.

Cal is also running athletic department deficits right now.

I'm sure UW would easily triple his salary to $500k or more, but the question is whether or not that is enough. What I find interesting is that Tosh will not come out and say anything definitively either way. The longer this drags out the better shot UW has I think.

All that said, I would be very surprised if he left Cal. He loves it there...

He's gotta do what's right for his family. Tedford gets fired next year, and then he's looking for a favor to keep a job. I'd go now and lock in a deal that takes care of him without uncertainty.

Well even if Tedford is fire staying at Cal might also be a smart idea. Cal knows he is by far their best recruiter and could offer him a move up to DC or something along those lines that UW can't offer currently.

Given the two programs, I'd rather be a $500k+ assistant than a $300k DC.

Man, I thought CU was supposed to have some of the best recruiters in the nation. What happened?

DL Coach and Defensive Run Game Coordinator.

Not much of a promotion. I'm shocked by this.

Should be fun to watch the fall out since AA was supposed to commit today and Tosh was the primary recruiter of so many of Cal's big time recruits.

Wowza. I didn't think for a minute that there was anything to this. UDub making a big push here.

Does this help us with any recruits?

Probably not directly. It will be interesting to see how the dominos fall. I don't think that there's enough time left this cycle to have a huge impact, but 2013 will be very interesting and it will also puts Cal at risk for losing guys to transfer.

Well there was talk over the last few months how the Cal locker room was already a mess and a war zone. Not sure how much truth can be put on those rumors, but I do expect this recruiting class to fall apart for them.

On another note I think someone should do a meltdown thread just based on Cal fans responses lol (I am willing too)

I might have posted too soon.

Four-star #Cal commit Jordan Payton had no comment on Lupoi leaving but said he will take a "serious look into other schools."

Cal fans have got to be ****ting themselves.

**** Cal for letting this happen. For real we deserve to ****ing suck.

Why? He just gave JT and us a giant F U. Doing this two weeks before LOI day will seriously damage the program. He is no longer a Bear.

WORST POSSIBLE NEWS I COULD HAVE SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RECRUITNG CLASS RUINED, MOMENTUM=DONE
crying right now

I've been kinda waiting for this other shoe to drop... not because I had any reason to think it would, just because I am a Cal fan, and we can't have nice things.

**** **** **** **** **** **** **** **** ****.
Am I having a ****ing nightmare right now? How could we possibly let this happen? I have to assume that if we just matched what UW offered, we could have retained Tosh. ****.

Can we fire Tedford - now...?

Looks like we'll be having crow for dinner.

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Just hope they don't all flock to UW.

This could potentially help us with Yuri, couldn't it?

I think it causes major concerns about this year, in addition to the outlying years. Those recruits were in invested in him, and he, through his actions, just voted "no confidence". Which of their recruits were we second choice?
