Preseason trip to Europe?

I know most of you re at the game Thursday night, but near the end of the telecast on Root, Marques Johnson said that Boyle was taking the Buffs on a five game swing next season. By that time, I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but I believe he was talking about CU & said what a great opportunity for experience & exposure for the 5 man recruiting class. Did anyone hear this? I hadn't seen or heard it anywhere before. If true, I think it's brilliant. Give those 5 (maybe more) guys a chance to gel w/ the team before the Charleston tourney. Maybe they could actually make some noise while there. Any insight?

Yeah I think the rule is every four years each team get to travel abroad and play pre season games. I think the buffs went to Canada awhile back (probably 4 years ago) So I know their time is coming up once again for a pre season trip.

This year I think it was Duke and Georgetown who went over to China. And GT got in a huge brawl with a Chinese professional team.

Would love for it to be true. Those trips can work wonders

but...Stanford basketball went to Spain last September FWIW

This doesn't help with what you asked but I read in an article that is linked from the thread on WBB recruit Jamee Swan that the women's team is going to be doing a trip to Italy next summer. Same concept .... 3 new freshmen that will be being counted on heavily (including a PG) along with Arielle Roberson as a RFr plus hopefully the return of a healthy and improved Jen Reese. The extra time in practice and some games will help to bring them together as a team sooner in the season.

So what does this say about your question ... nothing except that the CU AD is supportive of the concept.

I thought they were changing the rules to eliminate these international tours?

So maybe thats why both teams might be taking trips this year ... to get them in before the change takes effect????

I just bought my train ticket using some ol geezer's credit card. You can take a train from Denver to France right?

It would be cool if they could play on a couple of US miltary bases. Wally could do the J School proud and be our sideline reporter,

Considering Larry Scott's Pacific Rim ambitions, I am wondering about this trip to Europe. The Pac12 should mandate all international trips to go to China, Japan, Korea, etc. If you want to brand your product to a certain population, then follow through with that strategy. Just saying...

Now if everyone can come back and be as improved as Levi and Austin were after their respective summers in Europe  This offers the opportunity for invaluable meshing/cohesion as we put the pieces in place, and also hopefully lets individuals pick up certain parts of the game over there that can translate very well to college basketball

No reason to go to China, given the ****show that occurred when GTown was there. Japan and Korea do not have developed basketball leagues. Europe is the only way.

The team will be going to France.

Perhaps Bohn should bring the student section on this trip as well? :smile2:

Send the student section. And rock bottom. Might touch off WWIII, but the pictures and stories would be epic...
