If the tournament were tomorrow, here is how I am pretty sure the seeding would work out with tiebreakers

#1 UW plays #8/#9
#2 Cal plays #7/#10
#3 Zona plays #6/#11
#4 CU plays #5/#12

#5 Oregon
#12 USC

#6 UCLA
#11 Utah

#7 Stanford
#10 ASU

#8 WSU
#9 OSU

Our first game could be interesting, assuming we would have to play Oregon for a third time. However moving past that round I dont see anyone I am afraid of. UW, OSU, and WSU have all looked bad against us. The greatest thing about our bracket is we most likely won't have to deal with Stanford.

Gonna take a solid effort on the road this week to avoid the 5 seed.

Arizona only has @ ASU left, and Oregon of course has CU and Utah at home. So, we've got the most difficult path to a 13-5 finish.

Lucky for us they have been better on the road than at home. If we play thursday like we did tonight, I dont know who beats us. Hopefully they can keep clicking for the next few weeks

Need to get the win not only to get the 4 seed, but also to end this ****ing ridiculous notion among many that Dana Altman is somehow deserving of Pac-12 COY. Oregon was picked preseason to finish 5th, and here they are basically...well,...5th. Even if the Buffs lose, it would be criminal to not give Tad COY honors.

Altman is getting COY consideration? Uh, why?

I can't figure it out. But you keep seeing people saying that PAC-12 COY will either be Boyle or Altman. I like Altman and think he's a great coach, but if anyone other than Boyle wins it, it's a joke.

I kind of would like to vote for Krystowiak to get the COY award though. I mean, Utah's won 6 games. That's roughly 5 more than I thought they'd win after the game with them on December 31st.

Just checking, is a sweep this weekend plus a Arizona loss @ ASU (unlikely) the only way for us to move up to the #3?

edit: Guess a loss by Cal @ Stanford, or Washington getting swept on the road will move us up too.

We'd be better off with the #5 seed. Get that first game against a dog sh*t USC team and then play Oregon in the next round anyway. We're going to be playing UO regardless, we might as well get the extra win in the process.

I'd rather have the game off.... remember how gassed the players were in the B12 tourny last season?

Pass. I'd rather have fresher legs. We have a shot to win that tournament.

Beat me to it Sacky. I think I would almost prefer the extra game. Although it would be another chance to lose, I think we take USC.

You mean after they won two games and eventually lost to eventual champion Kansas in the third round?

Correct me if I'm wrong, (and I'm not trolling here) but I thought we're all working off the assumption there's no way we're making the big dance without winning the Pac-12 tourney.

As I see it, I think we have a better chance of beating Oregon if we're coming off a game the previous day. The teams from 1-3 don't scare me as much as Oregon does. I actually think we have a better chance of winning the tournament as a 5 seed than a 4 seed. We play at altitude, fresh legs aren't going to be a problem for us. Remember?

Being the 5th seed wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but I'm sure as hell not going to hope we lose one of our last 2 games.

I want to go into the P12C at 21-9 and winners of 5/6.

We're still considered to be on the NCAA bubble by the big sites.

Better chance to beat Oregon maybe. I think it hurt our chances for a potential finals game though on Saturday. Altitude or not, 4 games in 4 days is a lot.

Sixth team out in Lunardi's bracket. Last 4 in: Miami, Xavier, Texas, Northwestern. First 4 out: South Florida, St. Joseph's, VCU, Colorado State. Next 4 out: Oregon, Colorado, Dayton, Central Florida

For those of you who haven't been a huge basketball follower until recently, there are a couple things you want to know about the bracketology and the S-Curve that Lunardi uses.

1. He's been really accurate. It's how he got the ESPN job.
2. Being in the "Last 4 In" probably = Out. This is because the methodology assumes that all regular season conference champs win their tournaments. That won't happen. We'll see a mid-major or two steal an extra bid through a conference tourney upset. We'll also see an upset or two in the conference tourneys from multi-bid leagues that will knock teams off the bubble.

If we keep winning, we'll be in the conversation and have reason to tune in on Selection Sunday. But we have a lot of work to do and need to catch a number of breaks.

Much rather be the 4 seed and give USC the shot at an upset in the first round. Oregon plays very tough on the road, for some reason they have been softer at home, so i will wait to really pass judgement until Friday, but I like our shot a lot better with another day of rest/scouting

Mods, I think we're gonna need a poll:

Would you rather:
CU get a #4 seed and first round bye
CU get a #5 seed and draw SC in the opening round

Pollified. And I voted for #4 seed. I gave my reasons in the This Week in BasketBuffs thread.

Facing/Beating USC in the 5/12 game does absolutely nothing. It does nothing for the resume (wouldn't raise our RPI one spot). We need to win this conference tournament to get in, and it becomes astronomically harder to do that with 4 games in 4 days as opposed to 3 games in 3 days.
