Arizona/CU a rivalry in the making?

Between us getting our first Pac-12 football win against them, and beating them 2 out of 3 in basketball including in the championship, you have to think we are starting to annoy them just a little. I have a feeling there will be some more meaningful games between these two programs in the near future.

I don't know about a specific rivalry with Arizona. I think with Tad coaching and the talent he is bringing in we may become universally disliked in the PAC12 in basketball terms in the not to distant future.

Football may take a little longer since Embree started in a deeper hole but I would like it if the rest of the PAC just starts to wish we had never joined the league.

Absolutely. And seeing as how young we are, this could get nuts. North Carolina my ***** (in about 2 years).

Arizona is the Kansas of the Pac 12. I think it's reasonable to view them as the standard to which we want to reach, and eventually exceed. I doubt they feel quite the same about us. We're an annoyance to them. For now.

After 1 season?

Thats basically what happened with the Avs/Wings

Wings were the King on the block and here came this new team that knocked them off and won the championship. It did not take long at all for the Avs/Wings to turn heated, now granted we didn't slam one of their players into the scorers table, but I can see some more games like these down the line.

imo, fucla is the uber-kansas of the 12PAC.

zona has been a power for about 20 years (during Lute's reign), but only one national title. The baby bears may have done most of their damage under the late, great John Wooden, but think about this -- they have more championships than North Carolina and Duke combined.

A basketball rivalry with Arizona is most certainly developing. We had a dramatic one point win in Boulder, they got revenge in Tucson, and then we won the Pac-12 Championship over them in our first year. Those are the ingredients as to how rivalries begin. Many of their fans are recognizing the potential for it too, especially after today when we showed them we aren't ****ing around.

Oregon and Cal are up there for me. Feels like we've played a ton of games against Cal between football and basketball.

Arizona will be up there in basketball, but there are still a lot of possibilities: Cal, Washington, Oregon, UCLA (maybe), Utah (if forced) and Stanford (who we should hate the most, IMO, **** those guys). Given recent and incoming recruiting classes, Arizona may be the team to beat, but Miller did not impress me at all on Saturday. Boyle's IQ must be 40 points higher.

See UCLA in more of the Kansas role for my money in the Pac 12, especially when they hire a new coach and get back to being the bully on the block

See Arizona in more of the Missouri mode

I just hope the Pac:12 is one of the top four conferences in the country next year. It will be much sweeter when we repeat.
