Lady Buffs v Villanova - 3rd Round WNIT - Thursday, March 22nd, 7pm MT at the CEC!

Hell yeah!

Let's keep this rolling and get some hardware from the women's team too. The Keg needs a couple shiny new banners.

Coming out of the Big East, Villanova will be battle tested. Should be a tough game.

This is a sweet 16 game. Win this one and CU would be in the quarter finals against the winner of the Oklahoma St/Missouri St. game.

How about a big crowd for the Ladies on Thursday!!!

:gobuffs:

I don't live in Colorado, but I will be there in spirit. Get the C Unit to the keg and cheer this team on.

Coach Lappe has a special reason for wanting to beat Nova and I'm sure that will not be lost on the team.

Would that be the Sweet 16 game in Knoxville in '03? That one still stings.

Yup! Nova ended Lappe's playing career sooner than she wanted it to end, I'm sure.

I am currently trying to get someone who played in that ´03 game against Villanova as a senior to share what she has on her mind.

:wave2: Sabrina :)

Please welcome Sabrina Scott, former CU teammate of current Lady Buffs HC Linda Lappe. Sabrina currently hoops in France and has a very follow-worthy Twitter account as well a blog.

Thanks for the welcome...and thanks for supporting the Buffs!

Get as many fans to the Events Center on Thursday!!

Believe me, a big/loud crowd can make all the difference in the world!! It's not a weekend-day game (we hated those because we always knew the stands would be empty -- too many other things to do in Boulder on a beautiful day!). :) The ladies are building a solid team, so each and every extra game they play this season just helps them for next year.

It's been quite a few years, but no way we can lose to Villanova again. ;)

Welcome, Sabrina. I well remember watching you and Lappe play for the Buffs. I wasn't in Knoxville, TN for that last game of Lappe's career, but my best friend was on that charter. She started right in about that game when we talked last night after the Buffs beat South Dakota.

I was always there on those weekend day games, but the crowds were usually pretty sparse.

Everybody in Boulder get out there and support the Buffs.

Welcome Sabrina.
I was at the sweet 16 / elite 8 games in '02 in Boise and again in '03 in Knoxville. Definitely enjoyed the win over Stanford in Boise more than the Villanova game in Knoxville. Here's hoping that the current PAC-12 version of the Buffs gets to the point where it would not be unreasonable to think that they could get another win over the gang from the farm.
There are 4 of us in my group and we will all be at Coors on Thursday cheering on our Buffs as they go for another WNIT win.

Found it weird that they sent us out to South Dakota for the 2nd Round game, but maybe they draw bigger crowds in Vermillion, SD than I'm thinking.

That win got the Buffs to 20 -- gotta love both the men and women hitting the 20+ win mark in the same year. Remember, the women's team was only 18-16 last year - even with the Quarterfinal run in the WNIT - so while we collapsed a bit down the stretch this season, our record is significantly better already.

'Nova is 19-14 (6-10 Big East) w/ wins over American and @ Illinois State in the WNIT . I have a feeling this one is going to be a battle - we're fortunate to be able to host. Just throwin it out there, but if we can get past 'Nova in this game, there are potential opportunities at facing old Big XII foe Oklahoma State in the Quarterfinals and then Washington in the Semifinals.

Nice tip. Just read Sabrina's blog. It's good to hear about what's on the mind of our globetrotting pro Basketball player.

@Sabrina. Welcome to Allbuffs and providing some extra energy into the 2012 Women's NIT run. Now get me a beer and a sammich!

I agree....that win over Stanford was MUCH better than the Sweet 16 game the following year. ;) The loss to Villanova ended my career at CU as well, so definitely a tough one to get over.

Thanks for coming to all those games way back when (and you too buffgal), & continuing to support the Buffs!

Sorry buddy, fresh out of beer and sammiches...but I'm sure you can get one of each at the Event Center on Thursday during the game. ;)

That's exactly it ... and unfortunately it doesn't take really big numbers at this point. First round CU hosted and attendance was 1064; SD hosted and attendance was 1361. That's why it's so key that we try to get as many out to see the Buffs tomorrow as possible

Erm...a Bordeaux and a croissant, then?

Welcome and Go Buffs!

Can only get a beer in the club room, if they have it open for the WNIT. No beer at the concession stands.

We couldn't last year for the NIT. They had a rule about no alcohol sales at the game site. However, our Club Room was in Coors last year. Technically, our Club Room is now at a separate site since it's in the adjoining practice facility. Maybe that is a loophole we can get booze through.

The women's club room is held in the same room it has always been, not where the men hold their club room.

Time will tell.

Sabrina, if you are still reading this, what are your thoughts on being called "Lady Buffs" we have had a debate on this board . Some think it should be Lady Buffs others think it should simply be Buffs. Did/Do you have a preference either way?

I personally don't care for the term "Lady Buffs"...we're all Buffaloes. The women's teams and the men's teams together. Unless you're going to call the men's teams something similar. I know some of my teammates feel the same way, as it has been topic of conversation before. We never referred to ourselves as Lady Buffs.

Never once did we break huddle by saying 'Lady Buffs are 1' ... Always was 'Buffs are 1'. But that's just my two cents. :)
