It is early, but some teams are already on the board with good prospects. Tyner (Oregon) and Bigelow (USC) are two early 5-stars.

Going to be interesting to watch PAC-12 recruiting this year (as always). Some things to follow:

-The Colorado prep class is not quite as strong as some past years.
-Arizona and Hawaii seem way up this year. Can the new coaching staffs in Tempe and Tucson make a dent with the in-state talent early on in their tenures?
-The QB and DB classes out west look to be very deep this year.
-How will Washington do in the first full recruiting class with the new defensive coaches (notably Tosh Lupoi)? Conversely, how will Lupoi's departure affect Cal's class?
-Will Stanford continue to pull in top talent? Right now, they have two very good commits out of Virginia and have a big lead for arguably the best LB in the West (Isaac Savaiinaea).

Cal on the board with Bay area QB Jared Goff committing today. The QB dominoes are starting to fall with Stanford and Cal both having their guys, plus USC is expected to get Max Browne.

Updated with some of the latest commits.

BTW, Ashley Ambrose is doing a pretty mediocre job at Cal.

I thought you were being sarcastic about Ash, but then I looked Akins up. He may turn out to be a heck of a player, but a 5'8" CB who runs a 4.7 forty has a limited upside. Not the type of player you'd expect Cal to be the first to offer let alone accept a commitment from in April. Do you know if he's a program legacy or if there's some connect from Ash's Falcons days (like an ex-teammate's son)?

No direct connections that I could find. Weird they are taking him at this point, especially with the DBs out west this year.

Cornerback Trevellous Cheek (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer) has become the fourth Class of 2013 commitment for California, Rivals.com reports.

Kentucky and Central Florida also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-10, 175-pound junior, according to Rivals. Other programs including Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Clemson, Cincinnati, Tennessee and Western Kentucky were showing interest.

Prior to his junior year, Cheek registered a 4.95 40-yard dash, 4.22 20-yard shuttle and 31-inch vertical on the combine circuit.

He is Cal's second defensive back pledge from the state of Georgia. Corner Shon Akins (Norcross, Ga.) picked the Bears earlier this month.

Mauriece Lee (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos de Niza) has committed to Arizona, joining Zachary Green(Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure), giving the Wildcats a pair of early running back pledges for 2012, multiple sources report.

Lee, who rushed for 722 yards and 12 touchdowns while also catching 23 passes for 405 yards last fall, likes coach Rich Rodriguez' spread attack, “It’s the kind of offense where the running back can both catch the ball and run. I thought that was a good fit for me,” he told the Arizona Daily Star.

West Virginia, Boise State and Arizona State also recruited the 5-foot-7, 180-pound junior.

Arizona has three players committed for 2013.

I guess Cal is looking to take several DBs in this class... or the two commits from Georgia do not make a lot of sense.

There's a decent chance that UVA will flip Doug Randolph from Stanford over the coming months. He's right in their backyard and has family connections to UVA, just attended their spring game and then met with D.C. Jim Reid today.

Oregon picks up a commitment from Evan Voeller a 4* OL out of Oregon. Not a big surprise he committed since he has been a life long Duck fan.
