THIS is the best piece of news from the whole offseason and probably the best news for the football program since the move tot he PAC. One thing this program desperately needs at this point is continuity. Even if some of the staff isn't viewed as great by some, keeping them all together and having the kids learn one system for multiple years is HUGE!

I tend to think staff continuity is a bit overrated. Replacing a coach or two in an offseason should never be a big deal, provided the HC knows what he is doing.

Proactive turnover is a great thing, reactive turnover is rolling the dice. It will be more interesting to see what happens at the end of this season if have 5-ish wins. Can we hold on to the coaches JE wants, and do we see anyone leave "for better opportunities" where he is actually trying to improve the coaching staff.

If this reflects what Jon Embree wants for the program then it is a good thing. It's true that proactive coaching changes can mean a positive. That usually means the person being replaced wasn't working out for some reason or another. So far I like Jon's staff. I think it will require 2 more years to see if any specific changes need to be made proactively.

Considering where we were, it was important to keep the group together for 2 years.

We're just trying to get back to baseline for our program. Basic things like having a decent depth chart, having an offensive and defensive identity, and having a culture in the program. Having turnover within the coaching staff while this was happening would have been detrimental to the process.

I'm just happy it appears Embree has decent pull within the coaching community. Looking back, Hawkins' connections were so bad he hired himself as WR coach

Not to play devil's advocate, but is this also indicating there isn't any interest in our coaches from other schools/teams?

Well the article states that he had to fight off a few NFL teams for a few coaches so I would guess no.

Yeah we'll see.

This is a big year for this staff.
