Ruh roh...they were still on probation when some of this occurred. Have fun with the sanctions resulting from being a repeat violator. That's worked out so well for Oklahoma's b-ball team.

When multiple sports are involved, the deal most programs strike with the NCAA is to overly punish basketball in exchange for going light on football. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Time for Buddy Jones and Kenneth Starr to go whine to whoever will listen over at the Texas statehouse.

THe 13 year old in me wants to go to Baylorfans.com and troll the s h i t. out of them

The 33 year old in me wants to troll the **** out of them. To think, I was having a rough morning until this broke. Now imagine if this were to spill over to there football team....

Hell, its entertaining just lurking on the board and reading all their attempts to rationalize this..."have phone calls ever been a major violation"...uh yeah I'm pretty sure CU fans are familiar with this concept, lol. Also if you read the article there is more there than just phone calls, including some camp stuff and contact with non-academic AAU coaches (in my head I'm interpreting that as bag men).

The "misinterpretation" of the use of the Teleflip software sounds like a dodge to me. I think their compliance guy got cute and they thought they found a loophole around the texting rule and got caught.

They also once again appeared to have tried to cover it up. Just like the murder.

Sorry, threads merged. Don't get mad, I'm going back to my hands off approach.

At least let me have another thread in the "Other Sports" forum. According to the ESPN report, Baylor's equestrian program is dirty too. :smile2:

Shocking, just absolutely shocking. This is likely the tip of the iceberg as well. You know they're guilty of other ****. Now, just wait a while and Baylor will have to forfeit their wins, and my prophecy will prove correct.

They have always been one of the dirtier programs in the NCAA, in everything. They used to buy players to go 2-9 for Christ sake. Stephenville did shady **** when Briles was there so Im sure it's probably in the football program as well. That said, Briles is a damn good coach. Ive heard all kinds of rumors about Drew, he doesnt exactly follow the rules id say lol.

^^This^^

They were fully immersed into the culture of the old SWC. When you have a combination of a dirty culture historically, a sense of entitlement, and some alums who are willing to pay for it you get cheating. Add to that a certain pressure since they know that they are potentially "on the bubble" if and when college sports goes through further re-organization. They were almost on the outside looking in when the PAC was looking at taking schools from the BigXII and they know that should UT and OU and friends get the right offer they could be left begging. They will do anything to look like they deserve to be included.

You mean they weren't dirty after ONE OF THEIR PLAYERS KILLED ANOTHER PLAYER?

Just the cover-up.

Shockingly, being able to quickly building the program back up to unprecedented levels of success in the aftermath of it looks like more than a good hire, some luck and hard work.

Yea, but they are good Christians and will only get a hand slap, yank a scholarship and put on probation for 6 months or so.

Please forgive the good Christians of Baylor! After all they meant no harm by their actions!

Edit: This post is not meant to trash Christians, just those who break the rules and take advantage of others. Baylor should be above this sort of thing they allowed to happen. Cheaters they are! Let them pay!
