Webb Onboard

More competition is good, especially if one the players already has D1 experience.

I keep thinking that this may have a lot to do with them not being comfortable with the condition of Hirsch's feet.

Bringing in Webb gives Dillon the opportunity to RS and devlop plus it can't hurt to have someone other than the coaches pushing Wood to perform

... not exactly a vote of confidence in the guys already here. but, maybe it is health-related around hirsh as someone above noted.

if hirsch can't go and you redshirt dillon, then they'd only have wood and a walkon without this guy.

I remember Embree saying as long as he is coach, CU will never be in this situation where we lack a QB ready to step into the starting role. So I think Embree likes his QBs, but knows having game experience at the DI level is crucial, probably more crucial than I realize. If someone hadn't burned Tyler's redshirt, none of this would be an issue. Oh well, it is what it is.

It means one quarterback will be transferring by the end of the season, hopefully two.

Fat Charlie, like every other coach on the planet, likes to have "his" guys. IIRC, he recruited Chryst to ND, so Webb probably saw the writing on the wall. KU posters tend to have a positive view of him, good guy, decent QB, playing on a crappy team with questionable wideouts. Sounds like a good pickup for CU IMO.

Yeah, in a year or 2 we'll have Webb, Wood, Dillon, Hirshman, Shcrockand Liufau.

BTW...what a bada** coaching staff we have. In 2-3 years to go from DII's kid to being loaded at the position is amazing!! IMO

I really like the recruiting at the position and it looks much better than when the new coaching staff took over, but let's make sure some of these guys can play at the college level before we call the position "loaded".

Hmm. Article was a bit vague. Would like to hear it directly from embree or webb, not "indications" and "sources".

I will be shocked if webb is not the starter.

Meh, neither Wood nor Webb starting would shock me. I think it is pretty clear it will come down to those two for the starting job. I think Wood wins out in the end, but I do not think it is a foregone conclusion by any stretch.

What I am most interested in seeing is whether Dillon actually redshirts or not.

Ringo covered it pretty well. A) CU does not have a QB with significant D1 QB experience. B) No one has seized the starting spot. The expectation was that Wood would show why he was so highly thought of coming out of HS. That did not happen.

Two seasons of starting games is such a big difference. I am very high on webb. I think he instantly makes the offense credible. He's a scrappy player. He can turn busted plays into gains. CU needs that this year. With webb, CU has the 2nd most experienced qb in the conference. That will translate into some wins.

You expected Wood to seize it in the Spring? Thought it was pretty clear that Embree was going to keep to his promise of giving Dillon a shot at starting and thus, not announcing a starter and then combine that with Hirsh being hurt, what did you expect?

That's how I read this as well. I've said it a bunch, but I might as well repeat myself: you can't carry six quarterbacks on a roster. Four quarterbacks spaced out over five years is ideal, IMO.

I could see Hirsh starting immediately for a good DII school and Schrock..who knows...

2013: Webb (Sr), Wood (Jr), Dillion (So), Liufau (Fr), not taking into account redshirting...
