Taddy has done it again. Bringing back ex-Buffs that are Pro now to scrimmage the Buffs this summer. If only they sold tickets.
Burks, Higgins, Roby, Knutson and others are going to attend. Here

Awesome stuff. Still think that Chauncey should make it.

And i just saw RSSbot posted this...:bang::stupid: :pissed:  :shot:

It's great that Boyle knows the recent history of the program and is bringing in past players to be involved with the current team.. even if it is for only one scrimmage. Should help our young team too

So cool! Would have been easy for many programs to get caught up with last year's success and go blinders on the incoming kids - instead Boyle keeps innovating and finding new ways to drive the program forward. Each time something like this is announced I am more and more impressed with his program leadership.
Now he needs to arrange AB access! (Frankly I wouldn't want him to open it up unless the players were pushing for it - seems like a cool thing for current and past players to enjoy and grow from - no need to ruin it for any of them).

Sounds like from the article that Rodney Billups is a key to this happening. Very glad that kid is part of Taddy's staff.

I want a midnight madness this year. I think we are ready. With the announcement by Bohn that he is taking kids to Vegas, are students are going to be rabid. Tickets are going to be impossible to come by.

Brings up an interesting question - anyone in the know have any insight on if it is a consideration to expand the student section? Is it worth it for the games where students are turned away but single game tickets remain? Just curious about the thoughts on a larger student section, more active fans in the stadium - versus a concentrated student section that through camping out for tickets/entry only allows the most rabid fans, and creates a more hostile environment in the section as it exists?

Have we had games where students were turned away?

I think this year will be the first year where they have to start turning away students. That incentive to go to vegas for free will be huge for students. I think the student section now is great, I dont think it needs expanded much. However I would love to see a small section on either side of the tunnel to help when opponents are shooting that direction. I cant wait to see how hyped up Tad has the student section, after they got their first taste of March Tadness

I'm all for expansion of the student section... along with moving it out of one of the most premium seating areas of the stadium.
I love them next to the visitor bench tho... Where should they go? them behind the basket is just alllsome.

I had football in mind. Oops. Working in both football and basketball...

What I'm thinking is that we fill the South end zone with students. I'd probably also move the band into the seats in front of Dal Ward so that we're able to drown out the visitor fans on the North end. Same strategy with the band would also work for basketball. The end opposite the students & band is way too dead right now.

No thank you. We like our seats just fine.

I figured as much. Thought I'd throw it out there. What about alumni band or would that cause a problem?

The issue with band seating is that no one wants to buy seats right next to it due to the noise and the students don't want the band to split the student section in half.

I sat 3 seats from the band for years and loved it.

The band never bothers the students. Might be interesting to put student seats on either side of them to create a buffer.

Honestly there is only one song we play that pisses off the fans to the left of us, and that is the people that dont understand the reason for it, and that it is supposed to sound awful. The students wouldn't mind having us in the middle of the section, but we are actually supposed to serve as a buffer between them and the non student fans to the left. We have been moved from the 50 yard line on the east side of the stadium, to the old box in front of the north endzone (pre dal ward), back to the 50 and then section by section around the south end zone until we got to where we are right now. Our main purpose is to rile up the students. They are the ones with the true energy in that stadium, we get them fired up, we get everyone else fired up. For us to be effective at all in the north end zone you would have to mic us up. As a member of the GBMB we take a great amount of pride in being loud enough that we do not need microphones.

For basketball, unfortunately we have gotten so large that our options are a little limited, but again being next to the students is the main priority and getting them energized so that we can get coors rocking. We have a job to do whenever we perform, a lot of people dont realize that, luckily Mike Bohn does and he is doing all he can to help us succeed.
