Crews installing new $7M scoreboards at CU-Boulder's Folsom Field

$7 MILLION SCOREBOARDS?! LET'S SAVE THE MONEY AND KEEP SCORE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY - WITH OUR HANDS."

"
7 million for football and we can only give a respected American like Ward Churchill $1?"

I wanted the story to have a quote along the lines of.....'more progress would have been made, but we keep having to watch for a guy with a camera phone that is messing around with our crates and cable spools' Here's hoping Golden makes it in the next article as the work site stalker!

I'm not sure whether to be proud, offended, or both...

Not to be outdone by the Camera, I will have my own update a bit later in the usual place. They kind of stole my thunder today but I'm not going to let that stop me from providing all of you with the fruits of my poor photography skills and amateur-level job site analysis.

Gawd ... Rob Smoke is such an ass.

And that article is just the tip of the iceberg on the backlash we will see when the new stadium plans are officially announced. I look forward to their tears.

Who needs a new scoreboard in a stadium of 50k people!

So infuriating. I did enjoy down and up voting posts though. Most of the comments are negative, but all of them have negative review.

just about what i expected. and who ever posted it above is right. its going to be great when the plans for the expansion show up in the BDC. its going to be epic!!!

I really despise the anti-athletic people, anywhere, and their delusions that donations to the AD would go to academics if we didn't have any sports. Without athletics, CU wouldn't be much, and so would almost every college in the country. Athletics bring exposure, which brings more applications, which means more money, and later, profit. Oh well, **** those people because the CU AD does what it wants.

And that meltdown will be fantastic, can't wait.

Wow, a whopping 49 people have responded. Mostly negative.

Even if all the responses were negative, and you multiplied it by 10, it would still be a vast minority of voices. Too bad they're so loud.

This is the best comment

It would be one thing if those standard jumbo-trons didn't work -- last anyone checked, they work great.

I guess he hasn't been to Folsom.

I can say with 100% certainty that CU would not have received a dime in donations from me if it weren't for athletics.

Start responding to those people by saying that by the same logic, if CU didn't raise money for the medical center then the athletic department would have gotten hundreds of millions more in donations.

You, my dad and grandpa, and many, many others wouldn't donate. If I'm being honest, if it wasn't for CU football and to a lesser extent, basketball, I probably wouldn't really care about CU all that much because those two sports are what made me love CU, not academics.

I actually forced myself to sign up to respond to that guy
Too bad the admin has to approve comments first, takes forever.

You guys need to step up your game. Tell them you are pissed the things only cost 7 million. After they spent over a billion on construction in the past 5 years. Maybe step up the boulder smack talk and compare them to Berkeley in granola consumption

$7 MILLION SCOREBOARDS?! LET'S SAVE THE MONEY AND KEEP SCORE THE OLD FASHIONED WAY - WITH OUR HANDS.

did you type that post with your hands or did you just smash your face against the keyboard. Just kidding good points maybe with some of the saving they can buy you a keyboard that works.

Money is fungible. This is money being pissed down a rathole that won't really bring in any revenue --people won't attend because of the scoreboard-- that could have been used for something worthwhile. You Boys' most annoying habit is acting like everyone else is stupid.

good point, money is very fungible. Lets say I trade you pages I tear out of a dictionary for $100 each? Maybe if you have enough money by the time you have left, you can figure out where you went wrong.

Now we can watch the Buffs screw up in HD! Yay!

Where did it say they are in high-def? Or are you inviting us over to watch the game with you in your mom's basement? I'll bring the granola

Everytime I read an article about how "broke" CU is an how they need to raise tuition, it's followed up by another article of how CU just spent millions of millions of dollars.

CU is the friend that always cries that they are broke, then you see them out at the bar buying shots for everyone. Make up your mind!

CU has never said they are broke and where did they promise to never raise tuition? CU has spent more than a billion dollars between the CU boulder and Anchutz campus this past decade on construction buildings to support academics in order to build a world class facility, of course that is going to cost more. Might I suggest Front Range Community College, still a bargain at $150 per credit hour, plus they spent the past weekend at home playing clue with Devry and ITT tech.

That commenting system is terrible. At least the Denver Post usually lets it ride

Yes it is. They didn't even approve my comment when I asked if the last time the person had seen the video boards was in 2000. :wtf:
