What programs do you expect to beat out for recruits

What programs should we beat in a H2H recruiting battle?

in the Pac12?

Seems like we are losing some H2H battles lately with a guy going to Wazzou--understandable IMO with him being from WA--and a Texas guy to Minny I was wondering who everyone thinks we should beat for recruits. Most of us are realistic that we aren't going to beat many guys for 'SC or UO right now, but we aren't going for only the 4/5* guys either.

This can get difficult because some guys are going to want to stay close to home and others want factor X whether that be great facilities, good academics, strong NFL ties, yada yada. Explain why you voted like you did.

WSU, ASU, and OSU right now in a true h2h battle. We should still win a handful against everyone else in the Pac-12, minus USC

We have beaten pretty much all the teams save for USC, Oregon and Stanford for recruits in the past. i see no reason why we shouldn't be holding our own against those teams now.

I would like to see us beat out UCLA, Cal, and maybe even Stanford once in a while. Otherwise we should be consistently competing with everyone else.

I'm not saying so much holding, but teams that we have a definite advantage over right now. Not teams that we have a shot at winning a recruiting battle against. I'm talking about the teams where even a mere battle, and not the war, should ever be lost when you discount any other factors.

Edit: Perhaps that's unrealistic as well. Not even 'SC can get every guy they offer. I just want to see where fans see us in prestige relative to our conference brethren.

I chose everyone. A low percentage against certain programs, but I don't believe there is a team we can't win out against at times.

Once the wins start piling up, there's no reason why the Buffs can't win a recruiting war against any of the other P-12 schools

I expect to be competing with conference opponents for recruits and winning our fair share of those battles. I expect to be competing with conference opponents for recruits more often than competing with San Jose State and Fresno State.

Well, if we consider ourselves a historical Top 10-25 program, we should be even with those in that category. Washington, Oregon, Stanford.

We should lose a greater portion of recruits to Top 10 programs, while picking a few off occasionally. USC.

Every other program we should beat out. Utah, UofA, ASU, UCLA, Cal, OSU, Wazzou.

We might, but it's pretty clear these 17 year olds don't. We haven't done anything to get anyone excited in more than a decade. Talent wise, the team we will field this year is getting ranked by the media as one of the bottom 2 or 3 teams in BCS football.

I think we can win our share but should not loose very often to OSU, WSU, UA, or Utah. Other programs we should be winning some of the battles battles some of the time. More wins against WA, UCLA, ASU, Cal. Oregon and USC fewest. I think we should compete well with Stanford over time. Right now, I think if a kid can get into Stanford, we will lose quite a few. Has to do with their recent success. We definitely need to show some progress on the field.

Our last big winning season was 2002. The recruits we will be going after were 7 years old back then. We have got to establish a winning tradition again, which means earning respect.

True.
But for the first time ever, CU is now in a position to start throwing excessive amounts of money at the problem. From coaches, to facilities, to recruiting budgets. In 2014 I expect to go head to head for big time recruits. Or else hire someone who can.

But I would argue that CU hasn't made much headway. Every program in the Pac12 has a ton of money now. Minnesota in the Big10 just built amazing facilities. Wazzou is planning and has made announcements (not sure if they've already broken ground). UDub will be done with their stadium upgrade and Cal is upgrading theirs too. Most of the recruits this year will be a RS-Sr by the time a lot of these upgrades are in-place, or close to.

yup. i picked "all" as well.

**** 'em. we can beat every last one of these swingin' richards. we just need to get a little mojo going again. don't confuse me with any facts. i don't care.

Exactly. In the Big12, we were always recruiting on an uneven playing field: last in facilities, last in support, scandal flak. We did, however, recruit middle-of-the-pack due to natural draw of Boulder, lifestyle, history, etc.

In the Larry Scott funny-money era there are no excuses. Once the Folsom expansion/renovation and new facilities are finished, we will be recruiting on an even playing field. Therefore it would make sense to experience a huge boost in recruiting back into the Top 25.

I actually think the distribution of votes right now is pretty close to the reality in terms of percentage of time we should be expecting to win vs various schools. Over 90% against Wazzue and the Beavers - sounds about right. Over 80% against the yootes and zona - again, sounds right. 75% against ASU sounds a bit high right now - I would put it at 50/50. In the 50% range against UW, Cal and UCLA - again seems about right. I do think the expectation to win >20% of our battles against USC and the Ducks is a bit high. Right now, I would hope we win 1/10 when going head to head with them.

And of course, all of that is right now. In a few years, those numbers better be going up across the board...

Yeah, that hasn't changed.

I expect to beat out No. Colo, Montana, New Mexico State, Hawaii, Air Force, Southern Utah, UTEP, Cal Poly, UNLV, North Texas, Tulsa, and SDSU most of the time I expect to break even with CSU, Wyo, New Mexico, Kansas, Fresno, Wazzu, Iowa State, and SMU maybe half of the time.

If you don't believe me, look at the other offers generally received by CU commits. Old thread, I know. Just chiming in.
