I'm betting the B1G and Notre Dame are also going to argue vociferously for a SOS portion. However, I sort of have the feeling the SEC, ACC, Big12-2+1, and all the other schools are gonna want to get rid of SOS for various reasons. Gonna be quite the fight.
 
this is interesting.

i think the p12 and b10 have a tendency to over-rate their own conferences and also the mythical value of the rose bowl. if they put themselves at a disadvantage to play in a nc game because of rose bowl issues or because of over-scheduling compared to the sec or b12, then i think they will lose leverage. all it will take is one time where, for example, a one loss usc team (with a loss to, say, 5th ranked ohio state in the ooc slate) doesn't get to play in the nc game because of these issues and the blowback from fans will be so loud that i think the p12 and b10 will have to cave and play within the system being set up. of course, this is what the sec and b12 are counting on, i think--- that the p12 and b10 will be forced by public opinion into lining up.

i'm not sure how it all shakes out.

I think there will be a SOS component. However, I can also see the same tired arguments about an undefeated Boise State deserving a spot in the 4-team playoff over 1- or 2-loss teams from the Pac-12 that played a 9-game conference schedule and played a couple top 25 teams in their non-conference slate.
 
Without some sort of SOS component, this whole thing is moving towards an 8 game conference schedule with 4 games against the savannah st's of the world. :pissed:
