Sacramento State @ New Mexico State Thread

NMSU scores a last second touchdown to win 49-19. Back to the drawing board for Sac State. They didn't expect to win, but they'll view a 30 point loss to NMSU as concerning.

Maybe - but we as Buff fans are very fragile. Too many awful losses since 70 - 3 for me to feel good about anything. It will take a sustained period of winning to get that goodness to return.

For ****s sake they lost to NMSU by 30! Holy **** USU is horrible. I don't think there's a worse team in D1, not sure how you can't be confident against them. FCS teams beating BCS teams are at very long odds.

When was the last time we blew somebody out? Like enough to play backups?

The last real "kill" we had was Miami (OH) 42-7, but we've had some games against Baylor, CSU and Wyoming after that where we won by 20+. This would appear to be the best chance for a blowout in quite sometime, but remember that the Hornets did find a way to win in Corvallis last season and that while their result tonight sucked, they are supposed to be improved over last season.

I'm not saying NMSU is world beaters by any stretch, but they will make some noise this year. They have a rough stretch, but Walker has done a good job recruiting and has a good eye for talent. Unfortunately, talent isn't very willing to go to NMSU, especially with realignment. Walker is in on a lot of early 3-4* players in California. The guy knows who to recruit and where, but his hands are tied.

He'll go back to the Pac12 after this year making our recruiting in California much tougher.

I'm confident we will win, but your post is a bit funny considering we know all about those long odds.

Gotta say.. I feel much better about this game after seeing these guys got blasted by what's historically been an AWFUL NMSU team.

I really hope we can give the 2s reps next week.

Here's NMSU's early commitment list:

As I said, Walker has a good eye for talent and did very well when he was at UCLA. Given that NMSU is going to go independent after this year they are definitely going to get worse (is that possible?) and probably see transfers. They are in a rough spot and probably need to go FCS. Walker has an eye for talent, just no one wants to go to NMSU as a first choice. That's always been one of the many, many, many problems they have.
