Embree has 4 years on that contract or is it 5? I think it is four so if history at CU is any indicator, there is no way he gets the boot until end of 2013 at the earliest as that will be the point where you have to either extend him or cut him loose. You don't see too many college football coaches finishing up their contract without an extension. See Danny a few years ago and see Bohn's mistake thinking that a bowl appearance was worthy of an extension.

Best bet is to sit back and roll with the punches this year. Aside from some scandal or something illegal there is no way CU buys out a coach with multiple years left on his deal. Still have a lot of home games left to have fun at up in Folsom. If we have a losing record this year, and next season goes down the tubes then you can start putting the pressure on and it will be felt, until then, you are wasting your time.

Losing 1 game to CSU doesn't tell the tale. We all know how CSU plays in this game. Next week is a must win, and this team owes us a win in one of those two road games before UCLA.

You got me. Great thread please continue. I hope you make more in the future.

Tell me this though, am I wrong? Do you see CU making a change if we go 3-9, 2-10, 1-11 and we run a squeaky clean program? I refuse to think that we could go 0-12.

I like Embree and EB and what they have been known for... I just don't see that fire from them rubbing off on the program yet.

I see staff that is in over their head and doing their best to learn on the job. Unfortunately I just don't see it working out. Recruiting is suspect and the game day coaching is pathetic.

Well yeah, we all saw that... Question is, will seeing that hurt CU's bottom line enough to make a move with two years left on a contract? They answered that question with Dan a few years ago... So now what do we do?

I'm not calling for a new coach cuz this is all we can afford.

People just need to lower their expectations. We are bad and will be for years to come.

Our window to getting back to where we want to be is closing fast. Recruits don't even remember 2001 let alone our nat champ. Sure we will have our Tv money but what seperates right now from the Arizonas and Arizona States? The answer is we are quickly falling behind and mid pac12 schools and the further you fall the harder it is to get back. We will never be able to give ourselves a shot in the arm via the juco route so all we are left with is a name coach.

Right now our two best recruiters are a TE guru and a Nfl running backs coach that cant close top talent at those let alone any other. How long are you willing to wait?

i don't buy this whole "csu plays well against cu because it's their superbowl!". CSU sometimes plays against much better teams than CU. don't you think they would rather beat a team like USC, than CU? of course they would. but they look like **** when they play them. why? because they are a **** team and usc is a good team. if we were a good team, we would make csu look like ****, no matter how much they wanted to win

Tim, sadly, you are correct. We are stuck with a ****** coach for 2 or 3 more years. That will be about 10 years of ****** coaching. 1/6th of my life. I'm a second year season ticket holder. I am strongly considering it being my last. That is the only vote I have. Jon Embree sucks!

see what you've done bohnhead? you lose more fans than you gain, back to back terrible hires. your days as an athletic director are numbered. our program suks, our only saving grace is the PAC12 $ that will allow us to hire a real HC.

This is what happens when you have pussies run your university. Nobody gives a **** about science on a saturday afternoon. One thing I cant wrap my head around is wtf is CU so scared of what the damn Boulder public thinks? Youll never be able to satisfy them unless u arent playing. Its ok to say **** u, dont appease their ass. Whats the story there?

There comes a time when it's evident that the guy you have can't do the job. When that time comes, you are best served to cut the chord right then and there. That time has come at CU. I agree that it's a near impossibility that the appropriate steps will be taken now, but now is when it should happen. The longer we wait, the deeper the hole. And make no mistake - the hole is pretty damn deep right now.

horrendous playcalling cost us this game. We could've one even with the young players easily if the coaches new how to coach. Yelling will only produce so much, these guys might be good position coaches but they suk as OC/DCs and JE is not HC material. We just need to cut our losses, which I know wont happen until the end of 2013. Let the next real HC come in and turn the talent we have into a winning team.

:stupid:

Major differences in the two contracts. The reason why Hawkins kept his job was because of the money needed to buy him out. With Embree, we are talking 250k after next season. He better start winning.

If you don't yet think we're screwed, read this quote from Embree

"I don't know what it is, and that is a bothersome issue," Embree said. "You have to be able to run the ball. So we need to look at what we are doing and get it figured out."

Good point. You don't want to hear that from an experienced coach, especially when you know the team was already going to struggle. This throws any false confidence that players and fans might have had right out the window. That usually isn't a bad thing, but I think it made me realize that we are truly near rock bottom as a program.

You have posted this twice so you must really mean this.....

I take the opposite view that he recognizes a problem and is willing to fix it. The previous coach chalked it up to the little things and just getting your horns out.

Just thought it was telling.

Isn't the Pac12 money contingent on Larry Scott delivering vast national cable and satellite distribution agreements?

eh. Not yet. Not even after this season. But his staff is definitely gonna have to change, big time, this offseason.

And I was so excited to be done with Hawkins that I became a season ticket holder to show my support...... Guess who's feeling like the real d-bag now.

What indications have you been given that lead you to believe Embree has the ability to turn this around? What did you see yesterday that allows you to come to that conclusion? There comes a moment with every under-performing employee when a light bulb goes on and it becomes obvious that he/she is incapable of performing the job to the standard you expect. That moment came yesterday with Embree.

Because I'm gonna give him at least 2 seasons before I know enough to say he should be gone. Can't put it all on one game.

Never feel ashamed of supporting the Buffs. I've been a CU fan since Eddie Crowder was the coach. That's 8 coaches. I'll be here long after Embree is gone, and long after the guy who replaces Embree is gone. I make no apologies for supporting the Buffs and will never feel like a douchebag for supporting the program.

Fair enough. Do the Hawaii, UCLA, ASU, OSU, Cal, WSU games count? Or do we throw away the first season entirely? It's certain that they aren't willing to throw away their first season up in Ft. Collins. McElwain has already won 1/3 the number of games Embree has as a head coach. Think about that for a second.
