I commend EB and Marshall for taking personal accountability

There's been way too little of that around Boulder the past decade. I sincerely like and respect our coaches. However, I refuse to let that get in the way of holding them accountable when they stink up the joint. Glad to see them address the issue head on, not throw players under the bus, and not try to sell us a load of crap about being a few plays away from being as good as anyone in the country.

"Everybody is up for evaluation, including me," Bieniemy said. "I'm going to evaluate everything and how I do it. I'm going to evaluate who is doing what, but I'll tell you this, we will get better. We don't have a choice."

"Well, not good enough," Marshall said Monday when asked about the ground game. "We have a whole new kind of system of what we're doing and we didn't execute well enough on a consistent basis.

"We were one here and one there. When you get around teams that can really run the football, it's a down-after-down deal and that didn't happen on Saturday. That's my fault. I've got to prepare them better."

I don't know

"It was just like I thought after the game," Marshall said. "We had a lot of positive things happen in the game and a lot of negative. Right now we've got to go fix the negative part of it. I was happy with our effort and happy with the intensity and how we do things. We've just got to do things technically better in some areas."

Do things technically better?

or mention some unbelievable set of emails from unnamed prominent head coaches telling him "to keep doing what he was doing"....this after a home loss to CSU and a prime time thursday loss to a mid-major team...in a game that was never close.

No, there really weren't a lot of positive things. I wasn't happy at all with the intensity. Just once, I'd love to see a coach say that.

I appreciate the fact that they openly took accountability for their failures. However, when it comes to making better preparations, they both have been coaching long enough to know better than to allow those kind of inconsistencies during a game that was very important to the program.

You are right in that there weren't a lot of positive things. Overall the intensity was terrible, especially from the middle of the third quarter on when good teams count on their O-lines to step it up and take control.

I have been on record here before saying that Marshall has to go. He didn't do the job at Cal and he hasn't done the job here.

That stated I will give him a little bit of the benefit of the doubt on this one only from the standpoint that what he said sounds to me like a coach taking responsibility for what happened and not throwing his players under the bus. I would be willing to bet that intensity will be discussed behind closed doors in a completely different tone but in public Marshall should take the heat and to his credit he is.

easy enough to lay a chip and then say "my fault"....tired of excuses, all we have heard for my high school aged daughters whole life.... she has seriously only seen the fluffs win maybe 7 or 8 games total her whole life !! unbelievable! every season I have to start answering the "why do we root for the Buffs again dad?" this sh!! is really growing tiresome.

I root for the buffs because I bleed black and gold.

Glad not to hear rainbow Zen BS, but sooooooo sick of this team and its continues poor play.

Are you done yet?
I love the team.
I'm sick of the loses.

When are you going to separate the behavior from the team? Shoulder 2 Shoulder, bro.

I could care less if they take responsibility. This debacle is on them no matter what they think.

After everything we heard from Embree and co. before this game, it was a total shock to see a team completely unprepared.

Except for one fake play at the end of the first half, I really don't think it is fair for you to say that about the Defense. More concerning on that side is that they wore down so obviously. Looks like camp was too rough.

I firmly believe, btw, that if Polk had been in the game at the fake screen pass, it would not have been successful. The guy that used to be known as Terror Smith blew his coverage there. Ugh. Safeties biting on double moves reminds me of WSU last year.

I wasn't really trying to single out the defense.

“If you can’t understand how to deal with losing, you’ll never know how it is to win. It’s only devastating if you let it be that way. We understand that most people here will jump on our loss, but we all find out about ourselves when we’re losing, and in some respect it might be a blessing. We’ve got to work a little bit harder and come together a little bit more. It’s only devastating if you let it be devastating.”
On “Surprise” of Losing
No, I’m not really (surprised). Like I say we need to turn this negative into a positive. And it’s part of the learning process to believe that anything can happen when you play. You have to be prepared to deal with that.”

Just thought I'd post HWSNBN's post Montana State-loss quotes. We are gutted, but we are unequivocably in a better place today.
