Oline on Saturday

Do we see the same starting 5 on Saturday? I heard so many good things about Dannewitz during the fall camp about being able to play any of the 5 spots, do we see him in there for Munyer?

I thought Handler had the worst day of them all (hard to choose), but what concerned me most was Baktiari's post-game comments:

“To the team as a whole, yeah, it’s a big loss but to me I’ve always been the guy who’s been like a loss is a loss and every single loss I’ve been through with this program I’ve taken it with a grain of salt because I know that now it’s in the past and the only thing I’m looking forward to is the next game coming up.”

He should feel like his guts have been torn out, not #hawkspeak

The taint remains.

I think some kind of change is in order, but I'm guessing the coaches don't see this as a large problem...just "tweeking". I'd like to see Nembot as a fan, cuz he's a monster and would be fun to watch.

Was Munyer considerably worse than the rest of the line? Serious question. I'm curious how the individuals on the line played. Hard to tell on TV. They generally looked bad. Kasa looked like he was having trouble blocking at times too. Would be nice to see him more involved in the offense.

Too bad Nembot doesn't appear to quite be ready. Also too bad that Asiata isn't around.

The tackles looked good, interior of the line was really bad and te blocking for the most part was bad.

Re-watched the first half last night focusing entirely on the oline. The guards blew the most assignments, but Munyer was getting pushed around the most.

I worry about sticking Dannewitz in though. Didn't he give up more sacks last year than any other Olineman?

Yeah, seems those blitzes up the middle met with little resistance. I don't remamber a lot of pressure from the ends, but that could just be because the middle collapsed so fast.

they got a big fat F - I watched the game a couple of times and wow, CU is that bad... the play calling and formation led to lots of those blown linemen assignments...The linemen can't see in the backfield when they make their adjustments on the line...eb needs to help marshall (his linemen) out at that point

Webb didn't seem to be helping his oline with blitz calls either, may be wrong but he didn't seem to have a clue what was coming as well.

Stats are out on cubuffs web site. Go to page 5. All 5 lineman graded out above 80 % Even though Webb was sacked 5 times no sacks were credited to the o-line. I think Munyer was credited with the most dominant blocks

Also, I think all but one were credited with multiple dominant blocks. Can't remember...

Am curious as to what Marshall sees compared to the rest of the world.

I've emailed Plati asking for individual game stats in the past. He says CU doesn't release them in order to protect the Olinemen from public criticism.

Maybe the season long grades add up, but I think the first game or so you can basically treat released OL stats as completely full of ****. Plati has released fake stats before (Cough* blue out)

Propaganda works. By the end of the year we will lose by 40 points, but think we are national championship-ready.

I kinda understand where they are coming from. You have 5 guys blocking and CSU brings six. Each of the lineman block the guy in front of them and a backer comes right through the A-gap straight to the QB and the backfield is empty, technically they didn't give up a sack, I guess it is on the coaches who never adjust to the same blitz over and over.

Handler completely blew it a couple times, but Munyer and Lewis looked like the main suspects to me..

This was against CSU. Wait till we play teams with actual talent.

We are ****ed.

Guard play was awfffful. Yet we kept running it up the middle. Go figure.

1. WR blocking was terrible. I don't know if the told to receivers to not block the guy and pretend you are running a route, but the CB's were always untouched on the edges

2. They didn't pull any guards on the outside to clean out the DE or a LB at the 2nd level. It was weird.

3. TE blocking (I'm not naming names, but we all know who) was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. If I wasn't such a big CU fan, I would have laughed. There was one play in particular where the run was designed to go to the left. The TE is on the left and loop around the back of the defense and finally blocks someone on the far right side of the play. He had to run past about 5 defenders to block the one guy.

Look at what CSU did, they would **** an extra tackle or a TE to a side of the line and even pull a guard and completely overload that side of the line and the run right behind their blockers. I think they gained at least 5 every time they did that.

I noticed the CB a few times too. I was looking inside (bigger cluster**** is hard to ignore), so I just assumed it was us getting unlucky against a CB blitz or something. Sigh. And the no pulling was real weird, especially after all the talk about using our atheltic OL.

That and the complete lack of screen game. we tried 2 or 3, but each RB screen was sniffed out completely. Something was wrong there.

that actually happened a few times where the CB would do a run blitz (maybe it was a pass blitz) and he was there right in time to blow up the RB. To be fair the runs were up the code and probably wouldn't have gone anywhere.

In my humble opinion, I thought Webb did his line absolutely no favors. Pass protection was not good overall, but quite a few times that they did pick up the assignments properly Webb ran out of the protection. Am i crazy?

Also, i told my wife about halfway through the 3rd quarter: Oregon and USC are going to eat this team alive. It's not going to be pretty.

yes, Webb is pretty low on the blame list. Too much pressure came from the middle and there is not much a QB can do there, especially if a guy comes unblocked.

Keep in mind folks, Webb has a bunch of starts in a spread, but not a ton of snaps under under center. He had a lot to focus on.
