A letter to the people calling for Embree's head.

Let me first clarify my credentials to speak on the matter. I played football in high school and college. Unfortunately I didn't attend CU even though I was offered a walk on opportunity by Vince Ohkruh. Basically, I feel that I know a lot more about football than the typical fanatic.

First off, we all know that we have basically the youngest team in the country. I'm not the only one who remembers that am I? I made the mistake of participating in the chat room in the 2nd quarter today. My insistence for my fellow CU fans to back off of the fire-Embo talk was met with numerous requests to "shut the **** up" by Creatini and others. Some agreed with me, so it wasn't wasn't all total classless remarks. And the fact that so many are calling for Embree's firing has inspired me to write this letter to you.

Watching the game today I noticed many issues of course, but there is one clear problem. There is almost a total lack of leadership, talent and ability of the Halkins leftover players. So basically, you are expecting Embree's Freshmen and Sophomores to lead the team? Not gonna happen. However I did notice a lot of great potential from many young guys. Which is a sign of two things. We have better days ahead and this year is a rebuilding year with little expectations of on-field success.

I'd like to take a minute to review the position groups.
QB - Webb isn't going to win any games and he isn't going to make stupid mistakes. He had a bad game today but its hard to do much with horrible blocking. I would not be opposed to seeing someone else get a shot. I just hope that Wood isn't even worse. hopefully Dillon or Liufau can be premier players in the future.
RB - Powell is a stud. He was the best player on the field today and will be a great Buff. Looks like we have decen talent with our young RB's and will be a bright spot if we find linemen to block for them.
WR - All young kids. The return of p-rich and some more freshman will help next year. Spruce is decent. Thomas has great speed and McCulough has some potential. Future looks bright here.
TE - Kasa looks good. Want to see him get the ball a lot more. Young guys appear capable and Parsons could be playing next year.
O-Line - Wow. I stated that we have an FCS line and I'm not far off. Outside of Bahktiari, we need major help. Our guards suck. Harris looks good and then bad. I can only hope that Embree's recruits develope fast here. Building a successful program starts up front and it appears to be our worst position. 100% made up of Halkins leftovers by the way.
D-Line - Pericak is a beast. But he is all we have now. The freshmen appear to have potential but they're freshman and this position is impossible to come in and dominate right away. Future looks bright. Again, that is the FUTURE.
LB - What was supposed to be our best position group really hasn't shown up. I see no heart, nastiness, flow or awareness. Major whiffs on too many tackles. Webb is decent, but not in Pass coverage. Wtf is Vigo doing on the field?! Need help!
DB - the future looks very bright here. We got screwed on a couple PI calls but Crawley and Wright will be great. We'll see how the young safeties develop but they can't be much worse than what we've had lately.

I'm not sure that Embree and staff are the greatest gameday coaches. Some of the play calls have been questionable at best. But they can't make the players more talented. their scouting and recruiting has looked promising. They are going to get a couple more years and I'm fine with that. At the very least, the next coach will be inheriting a much better team.

With all that said, will some of you chill the **** out please?!?

Last game learned Jones isn't the guy. Powell is the bomb.

This game learned Webb isn't the guy. Give it to Wood.

Marshall should go.

First, I'm done with people making excuses for poor coaching. However, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Second, since you pointed out Kasa as a positive, I just want to point out that I saw him run some horrible routes and looked extremely clueless in the open field at times. I think this is why he hasn't seen more balls come his way.

I know he's got talent and love seeing him run when he gets the ball. He is relatively new to the position, so I hope he is able to eliminate the negatives.

Third, I agree about Powell.

I don't think the talent situation is as dire as some think...there are definitely some good, young players on this team.
However, that means almost nothing when they are not coached properly, not put in good positions to make plays...

We lost to an FCS team, we are getting worse not better. No more excuses for these coaches. They can't coach on game day, they were supposed to be able to recruit and we are recruiting like a WAC team, our players look soft, and Jon and EB arent inspiring anyone.

They need to go.

You're cute letter loses a bit of steam when they lose to a team that doesn't even have one BCS level player on their roster. Back to the sandbox.

Good coaching should be able to overcome an FCS powerhouse like Sac St. No excuses, despite your attempt to feed us dozens of them.

This is the same crap that was said about DII when his team came out a crapped the bed against Montana State. Oh it just takes time to get his guys, oh it just takes time to learn the system, oh it just takes time to get experience.

CU should never, ever lose to a Sac State team, or to the CSU team that beat us in the first game. This was not about being beaten by more talent. CU lost their first two games because their coaches are utterly incapable of making the correct decisions/adjustments. EB is in way over his head as OC and Embree got his ass kicked two straight weeks.

When you have young inexperienced players you better coach better than the guys on the other side and give your team every opportunity to win. The fact that Embree and his staff can't do that is reason enough to get rid of them.

It's painfully obvious that Embree can't get the job done. He's not capable of winning as a head coach at the D-1 level. The sooner we cut bait the better. Don't let the current players think that we accept losing. They need to see that failure in the real world has consequences. Think of the children!

AT LEAST it was his first season. This is much worse.

All valid points jaximus...and for me that doesn't excuse how our team does not play with fire and heart. The lack of passion on the field is a coaching problem. Embree, EB and company have had a whole season to get the players inspired to play all out. They have failed in my book and I don't see it gettting better I see it getting worse. This is why I believe Embree and the whole staff needs to go. If they can't get players to play with passion after 18 months they can't get it at all.

Time won't fix Embo's problem but we need to fix ours. Time to cut our losses and drive some change.

BTW Jaximus, the offensive skill positions are not nearly as good as you make them out to be.

I have visions of the USC game a few years back when we finished the game with like 58 total yards. What is going to happen when we play someone good.

wtf? you think because you played football in highschool, you are an expert in all things related to football? hahaha. Bill Belichick never played football, I bet your football knowledge dwarfs his. You should be an NFL headcoach

I know there was a lot of sunshine being blown up @$$e$ before the season, but there were a lot of articles written before the season that didn't show us doing much better than this.

Maybe we got our hopes up too much.

Lets see, the stages of grief.
Denial - CSU loss
Anger - obviously this loss
Acceptance - if we lose the next game
