The Jayhawks fired Turner Gill after only 2 seasons (despite the magical comeback vs CU). Time to make a move Bohner. If they can take their football more seriously than us, smdh

One thing that Turner has going for him - he can now scream and holler, "I was fired too quickly!" and use that protest as his next-job mantra. And who wouldn't give a strong inclination to agree with him?

When you think about it in a long-term, Quick Firings are NOT a bad thing for any party. The program can say, "We just demonstrated that we want quality coaching and we know what Good and Bad Coaching looks like. Can you do this job well or not?" to any prospective coach. Gulp!

And the dismissed coaches can dash off to their next jobs claiming "foul-!" Heck, if they're smart, that's exactly how they'd arrange it, too. RESIGNING would be "I truly am a flop" and might send Next Employers running even further.

But, I tell ya, when a program hires Charlie Weis... the flop of ND, moving into that football mecca of the world Lawrence, KS? Where Basketball Players beat up Footballers for breakfast?!! Sheesh.

They're not done with the failing. They hired the guy that most resembled Mangino and closed their eyes and crossed their fingers.

Didn't Gill have a really big buyout too? And Kansas stii found a way to get it done. One thing we have going for us is Embos buy out is relatively small.

Gill walked away with $6 million, then Kansas turned right around and threw big money to Weiss. Not bad for a little prairie state.

Watch us keep Embree because keeping him another year saves us 250k.

They certainly are not going to fire Embo mid-season, so he has the rest of the season to save his job. I think that if CU at least looks competitive against Fresno St, WSU, Washington, ASU, Stanford, and Utah he gets another year. If the Buffs don't look like they deserve to be on the same field with those teams, I think he's out come December. Then maybe they can get a real HC like Fulmer or Petrino.

I think it is very likely Embree will be here in 2013, no matter what. Not exactly good news as a Buffs fan if we are looking at bringing back a coach who wins 0-2 games, but I would be less pissed if we break ground on the new facilities. No more announcements to make announcements. No more mixed messages. I am talking actual ground-breaking that will make us competitive with other schools in the conference. Realistically, that is the only way we are going to get any sort of interest from big-time candidates anyway.

The one thing I know Bohn is good at is numbers. If this season continues in free fall, it will cost the AD far more than that amount in lost ticket/concessions/apparel revenue than $250k. It is a simple business decision.

You make a good point. If the AD wants to show any sort of seriousness, they announce the facilities upgrades so that they can recruit a high profile coach.
