How were the...

Not nearly as great as I expected. I found the detail on the ribbons to be hard to read (at least looking from the south side to the north). The picture was great quality, but the actual size of the video hasn't changed..... the extra space was used for digital ads basically.

great increase in the game day experience. The Dal Ward one is sweet. The south end zone one does look weeny.

I could do without the team rushing yards and passing yards on the big board. Give that info out during timeouts. Thus having the entire screen to show the game plays.

It was better than seeing the big green blotches that were there last year.

and the game clock issues... either it missing due to graphics or being out of sync with the other boards

The video quality was good. But I was annoyed trying to find the situation stats (down, yards to go etc) on the north board. Overall...B

Too small. It's pretty obvious that advertising and not replays was the driving force behind the new boards.

Hopefully they find a better balance and find a way to make scores and other info bigger on the displays.

No more green dot. That in itself is a big improvement.

Yeah, the south end one is like watching a wide screen movie on an old square TV. It chops the picture off width wise. So, for instance, you will see people on the left and right sides of the screen on the north end but they get chopped out of the picture on the south end. I think they could have filled the space between stone columns on the north end. That would have made it a few feet wider.

Remember when people were telling me to STFU about the south endzone and that my complaints that it was too small were silly?

I liked them. The picture is the same size, but super clear. Obviously a huge screen would have been better, but I'm not complaining about any upgrade at this point.

Wow, so all the time, money and excitement over the screens is even a failure? We can't fire those...

Nothing special. Good boards that get the job done. Look at this as fixing a glaring problem rather than an improvement that's going to blow anyone's socks off.

I was disappointed...the picture is clearer but the screen's are the same size and now are cluttered with advertising. For me it did little to improve the fan experience.

this thread reminds me of that old joke "other than that, how was the play, mrs. lincoln?"

Heard generalized complaints in my section about them not showing scores from other games with any frequency. Also, the stats are nice I guess, but they weren't kept up to date, and really don't need to be on constantly (particularly if you can't keep them up to date).

Sound system still eats a bag of dicks.

I liked them. Especially the north board. I found myself watching the board when the plays were far away from my side of the field. That definitely never happened in the last 5+ years.

I was disappointed that the ribbon boards wouldn't spend at least a little bit of time going through other games.

I like the idea of having stats up there during the game, but it would have been nice if they were right. A quote from a friend of mine was "It must have been take your kid to work day, and the kid was working the stat sheets. They showed us having 159 turnovers at one point."

A massive improvement IMO.

Overall they were not good especially considering all the hype they got. The actual product that the fan cares about is the same exact size. They picture quality was better as it couldn't have been worse that what we had last year.

Other than that, all it did was give the school a better way to raise money for ads. They still don't use them properly and it adds nothing to the football experience that the fan gets.

What they should have done was put a wide screen board up and start out making them something that the fans will want to look at for football reasons and then throw some ads on it. Instead they started out with an advertisement board that also shows some replays.

FAIL!

The sound was sucking ass as usual which kind of killed the joy of seeing the new boards. The A/V operation was shaky as I'm sure a dress rehearsal does not properly prepare the staff for a live game. Stats were all over the place when they tried to run with those and they didn't get the audio up at proper times when playing CU promos during breaks. But it's a small step toward looking like we belong with the big time programs in the 21st century.

Definitely improved picture quality. Some bugs need to be worked out but I am sure once they figure out what they are doing with the new boards we will enjoy them that much more. There were lots of ads though. Band has a run out video now though so we enjoyed it lol

Ok for those saying the picture is not that much better I think you all need to really think back to those old boards. The picture on the new screens is fantastic. I agree the south end is a little small but as was mentioned earlier it was my impression that it is at max size currently due to winds in Boulder. And yes they had issues with stats and not showing others scores often but give them time.... the board operator just started playing with these in game situations as well. IMO big improvement and with some other improvements that I hope will be announced in the next few months we will have a great facility to watch a ****** team

best part was when they went full screen video pn both boards - which was probably a mistake....picture was sweeeet. i agree with the clutter comments. i found the stats to be hard to read in the clutter especially the white on gray (most of them were wrong or out of date anyway). sound system has gotten worse if anything, i can't hear a third of what is being said from section 109. audio cut out / out of synch a few times too. agree the south board would have been nice in 16x9 but if you are comparing to the old green blotches it rocks...!
