Many of us ABers were disappointed that Wood did not win the starting position, arguing that Wood has way more upside and Webb's KU performance did not inspire confidence at all.

Now that Embree & Co have given in to the obvious need to let Wood show on the field when it counts, if he actually can convert his raw tools into BCS quality QB performance, we will soon find out, as in a few hours, if Wood actually is, and always was, the right man for the job (at least while we wait for Dillon and Sefo).

Go BUFFS!

I'm concerned that we won't see Wood until it's too late. I could see Colorado get behind
17-0 or 21-0 before we see Wood. Wood needs reps when the game has yet to be decided.

That is my fear as well. Bring him in once it is too late. But the way we have played it might not matter.

Who knows, maybe he starts under center to throw off the Bears, kind of like what Embree and EB did with starting Powell at RB. Could have been all a ploy to make the Bears prepare for 2 QBs and reduce the pressure Wood might feel prepping for the game. Would be nice.

The Buffs are playing Chicago today?

i think the staff thought Webb's experience would give them a way to beat CSU and Sac.....while Wood got his head screwed on.

plan B, now.

I hope that wasn't the only reason they picked him.

me neither. i'm just saying a guy who has taken BCS snaps looks pretty good against what seemed to be inferior opponents. was named starter pretty quick after being on campus....after Wood seemed to look good in sprinball

I always thought it odd that they picked a QB before the scrimmage. Not sure what the hurry was.

Yep. I think they envisioned Wood getting some reps in garbage time too. Honestly, not the worst strategy.

Bears?

Anyway, if the same D shows up, I don't see how we have a snowball's chance, so when Wood comes in is irrelevant to me.

The way I see it, if Wood comes in late we will likely be behind which means the O will be throwing it a lot which will give us a good opportunity to evaluate his play. Plus it may also provide the coaches the opportunity to see if he can provide a spark to a team that is behind and playing flat (the leadership factor).

I don't see any downside to playing Wood today.
