This could be competitive coaching search year

Schools who could be looking for a new coach after this season

Arkansas: Pitiful start, but being 1st season for Smith could save him for now

Auburn: Hearing from a big Auburn fan I know that a lot of people are starting to get frustrated with Chizik's not so impressive record without Cam. Lose today and it's the first time ever they would have lost 3 games before October.

Kentucky: Looking to be a 3rd straight losing season for 3rd year coach Joker Phillips

Nebraska: If they fired a coach for winning 9 games, why wouldn't they fire a coach who has lost 4 games in each of his 4 years there? Huskers still irrelevant in the big picture.

Boston College: Looking to be a 2nd straight losing season

Wake Forest: Looking to be a 3rd straight losing season under 12th year coach

Colorado: Worst program in the BCS if not entire FBS

Cal: Would Cal fans get upset if Cal had it's 2nd losing season in 3 years? Tedford and Cal could go to 1-3 today with a loss to SC.

Grobe will be at Wake Forest as long as he wants.

If it ends up being another 6-6ish season in Knoxville, they'll force Dooley out.

1. John L Smith has always been an interim coach. No one expected him to be coaching at Arky next year.

2. Agreed with Chizik. The guy is recruiting a ridiculous class though. I mean ****ing ridiculous. No way they aren't cheating, they have like 3 of the top 20 recruits in the nation. I doubt people would want to miss out on that unless he really, really sucks this season.

3. Haven't heard too much about kNU lately. I'm sure a lot of their fans are livid, but at this point they are no longer the team in their conference (like they were in the Big8). They could pay big money, but will they? I could see Kirby Smart going there, actually.

4. Grobe won the ACC at Wake. Doesn't mean the fans aren't upset, but he's a good coach. Probably just a weee bit long in the tooth, but I'd take him over Embree anyday of the week. The only good coach on your list so far.

5. Cal just upgraded their stadium and Tedford sucks. A good coach could come in and win with that talent right away. Look at what's happening at UCLA and Zona.

BC has been doing something right the last decade, they are in the top ten for wins in that time.

When NU had their best defense it was led by a CU guy.

Except for a few trollish fans, I wouldn't give 2 ****s if we had a good NU coach. UT's best coach was an OU guy. Think they care? If he can win us MNCs (lol not with this admin) or Pac12 championships then I wouldn't care at all and I doubt anyone else would.

Grobe is dead set on Wake and isn't leaving. He's had opportunities for big jobs like Nebraska and Miami, along with returning to his alma mater, Virginia, and has refused. Ain't happening. He'll be at Wake forever, because he's never getting pushed out after doing the impossible there and has zero desire to leave.

What is the average number of openings per year. With the rate of turnover in college FB this year shouldn't be any more competitive than any most others, even with a number of other schools that will likely end up on that list before the end of the year.

It looks to be a very quiet year for coaching change in the Pac and Big XII. That's good for us.

I don't know, but I think it has to do with more possible good posititons than actual numbers

I wish we could have Tcu's coach. I really like Diaz, Duff has a valid concern with him, love to have him tho. Doesnt look like there will any change here anyway.

Pelini isn't going anywhere right now, straight from a boosters mouth. Now if one large booster decides he's had enough then I could see it happening. He literally bought out Callahan's contract to bring Bo to Lincoln. The issue we have is we aren't going to open up the checkbook to pay huge money to get a proven entity. Pelini is probably the best we're going to get with the money we're willing to spend. So having said that we'll have to deal with his "growing pains" as he becomes a better head coach. Pelini would be winning more right now if he didn't have a fairly green O.C. and a very green D.C. We had a chance to get Bob Stoops for our D.C., but we weren't willing to spend 1.1 million for him.

1st time D.C. + 1st time O.C. + guy learning to be head coach = 9 win seasons.

I think it's more that schools have more $$$ to give to coaches and a lot of schools want a winner.

When CU landed Hawk how many other teams were looking for HCs that year? He was the hottest prospect that year. Couldn't fault Bohn for that, only the things he did after Hawk first got here.

Bob Stoops leaving HC at Oklahoma to become DC at Nebraska? You are some arrogant bastards

Gonna have to open up the checkbook if we want a head coach that can turn things around. Otherwise, gotta pray Embree can.

With Big10 money and a soldout stadium that has expensive seats and and AD that won multiple MNCs why won't you guys? Politics? kNU could pay as much as Ohio State or Michigan or Bama, if it wanted.

I'd take the 'fired' coach from Cal or the Corn.
Pelini would never get along with or be approved by the CU administration, but he would be a major, major upgrade from Hawkins and Embree. Smith will be fired at Arkansas at the end of the season. This guy is a nut case getting ready to explode. Arkansas , I'm sure is very worried that he may do something very strange to embarrass the university as the loses start to pile up and the heat gets hot under his seat. He just declared bankruptcy. This dude belongs in a state mental hospital.

Smith makes 800K a year and is over 25 million in debt.... I'm surpised he is still able to get up in the morning, let alone coach.

U mean the other Stoops right?
Yes, I'm retarded.................I meant Mike Stoops. I think the sideline would go up in flames if Mike and Bo were on the same side. Would hate to be a kid that made a mistake....................prepare to be destroyed young man!

I've heard that T.O. is pretty tight with the money in respect to coordinators. I also think that Bo is stubborn in the fact that he wants to leave some type of legacy in the coaching world. He wants to be like his mentor, Hayden Fry, and give younger guys a chance to show what they got. When you take risks on younger coaches like that sure you'll have a few home-runs............................but for the most part you'll have a lot of misses.

Bo also has a problem with allowing his coordinators to do their jobs without stepping in. I not only know that money was an issue trying to bring Mike Stoops in, but I also think Bo has a certain defense he wants to run and that's the way it's going to be. We simply don't have the players to run a 2-gap scheme right now, but he's very unwilling to change from it even though we watched him change "some" last week.
