KU extends Bill Self for 10 years

Maybe now we can quit hearing people whining about how Tad is going to leave for KU any second.....

Self is 49 and a native of the region/Big XII. It's nice to see it made a little more "official", I suppose, but anyone who thought Self was bouncing somewhere else or retiring is basically clueless.

Awesome news.

Great news. As long as Self is at Kansas, Boyle might stay longer.

In a related note, Kansas pays its football and basketball coaches 6 mil total, and CU pays Embree and Boyle 1.6ish mil total. I'm embarassed as an alum, at this point.

Boyle has turned down two offers for much bigger money from other schools and refused a raise from Bohn last year. Embree doesn't deserve a dime more than he is paid at this point and Boyle, if he wants more money, will get it but it's clear he doesn't at this point.

Self is making $5.332M/year if he sticks with his contract through 2021-2022 and Weiss is at $2.5M/year, so it's actually $7.832M/year combined.

What kind of contact would you give Tad if you we're the AD? Be realistic

I'd do 10 years without hesitation.

I'd structure it similar to Les Miles' contract. Every time he meets certain performance criteria (i.e., makes NCAA tourney or 20+ wins), a year gets automatically added. For money, something like the median of the 4 highest-paid coaches in the Pac-12.

I understand the reasoning for a contract that long to show complete faith in a coach that this is their program to take to the top, but god, with the way things can change so quickly in college athletics these days, it's a risk even with those who appear to be fantastic. Even proven entities can collapse within 3 seasons. That said, I'd obviously be all for taking that gamble in order to get Tad fully locked in.

$14,978 per day. So about every week he'll earn a Professors yearly salary.
Profs make only 15K a year? Well, that sucks. They should take there skilz to the private sector.

Misread. $100 grand a week? I want to be a professor!

You should want to be the head coach of Kansas.
