What is wrong with the running game??

I want everyone's thoughts - is it play design, play calls at the wrong time or position on the field, line blocking, players, etc, etc?? There are lots of backs that are not seeing the field....seems as though it is Tony or Christian...not really seeing any of these other guys like Crowder, Ford, Abron, Creer, Lewis... Sometimes a back needs their opportunity to get a flow going, need more than 1 or 2 carries 3 qtr's apart??

If you don't have a QB or even worse a single WR that keeps the defense honest....unless your RB & O-Line are some of the best in the nation you're not going to be successful

Pretty sure my last 10-15 points have said the same thing....but it's the QB people....7 years with the worst/least talented QB's in our conferences and this is what we get

Little hard to run the ball when the five guys up front don't block anybody.

We don't have great RBs but even if we did they wouldn't go anywhere without space to run.

Lack of blocking, no fear of our QB to run or throw over the top, smallish backs, somewhat predictable tendencies, what more do you need?

“Personally for me, I’ve been through a lot of this stuff,” said left tackle David Bakhtiari. “I’m on to the next week.”

No highs, no lows. No peaks, no valleys. Just gotta sharpen the sword, polish the stone, cinch it up, and get ready to get our horns out and bring out the funk against ASU.

Oh, and my thoughts on our running game? When you don't have an OL, and you don't have any true running backs, and you can't pass, you're in deep ****.

talent, coaching, experience, execution

any other questions?

I know the OL doesn't look good. I am just curious if the running scheme is hindering these guys? If you are big and strong, you just man up on the guy you are suppose to block, and move forward. Get the guy you are blocking to commit inside or outside then push him away from the hole you are trying to open? Hard for me to believe these guys (the OL) are just being out muscled. They can not be that weak after spending time with our strength coach???
Look at Air Force??? how are they getting it done? Smaller and not as strong as CU....Am I missing something?

Fun Fact: None of the teams we've played so far are in the top half of the run defense standings in yards per game.

Part of my point/question...Our run game is THAT BAD!! Basic teams and basic offense. Line up and run the ball, then you can work in the play action to keep defenses honest... you have to run the ball and CU after 1 1/4 season are sucking big time at that aspect.

Its scheme, coaching, and play calling. I have seen the academies do far more with far less...

Fun question in light of the defenses we have played: Would CU have positive, zero, or negative rushing yards against Alabama?

Negative. Stanford is doing just about as well stopping the rush this year. We'll find out soon enough.

They (CU) are 109[SUP]th[/SUP] in the FBS in rushing yards and 107[SUP]th[/SUP] in points.

and because eb did good and he coached Adrian Peterson, who was already a great back before meeting eb, are the fans suppose to believe? I call bullsh!t !! CU has such a long way to go before ever establishing a run game. Like I said before - go look at Georgia Tech, Navy, Air Force....simplicity

I would honestly have to say at the end of the game the average would be in the negative category

How about we actually try running the ball.

We only give the running game lip service. The first sign of trouble, hell the first little hiccup, and we go spread empty backfield. Even when the running game has worked this season (a couple of brief periods) we've moved away from it. EB's offense sure looks a lot more like Leach's rather than a team that is "committed to the running game".

you don't run the ball on xbox.

Offense has looked much better out of the gun, but nope we must run the ball it's the Colorado way!

In your view, would it be fair to say that the problems in our running game are retribution visited on the program for retaining coach Hawkins for a fifth year and following up his dismissal with a decission to hire inexperienced coaches?

We have no offensive line, biggest hurt. We have no special rb. We have a below average qb. We have no threat at wideciever, but there are some short yardage possession guys sometimes. The coaches are hard to blame after that. I miss p rich.

This. We're not sick of losing yet. I am, but the players (and the leaders) aren't.

The players are not tough enough and the coaches are not committed to establishing it.
