Press Conference

Embree: If Ray Polk was in against CSU, they dont score 2 of their TD's. Hmmm

You can't say this as a college coach. Yes, it's probably true, and yes we all want Ray Polk back - but he's throwing someone under the bus in the process.

Embree: Connor should be healthy and be the #2 QB. Still no decision on Christian Powell

The Mayor mentioned Allbuffs and Buffs Stampede as fans sites involved in getting the buff madness train rolling. We better show up!

is there a way to go back and watch the first part of the presser?

That CSU game comment is so stupid.

Par for the course. CU is small-time and it shows in the way the HC carries himself. Looking deflated and dumbfounded in the losses and blowouts to garbage programs then over the moon after the comeback wins against other garbage programs. Get a ****ing grip and act like a ****ing professional JE.

He's learning on the job - what do you expect.

He's never been in a position where he's had to be up on the podium, in front of the microphone before.

I agree that in the future we should only pick up head coaches with experience, but now that he's been here a season and a half, we can actually see if he develops into a solid HC. It is impossible to know if he is just terrible with talentless team or inexperienced and learning with a talentless team. (well, talented in the frosh class) Second half of the season might tell us.

I'd hate to be the team he learned with, just to go on and end up being a decent coach for someone else.

I would hate to be the team that hangs on to crappy coaches while they burn CU to the ground (remember hawkins?)

Given there was only one team who was interested in hiring Jon Embree for anything more than a tight ends' coach, your comment seems far fetched, at best.

Jon Embree = John Blake

Ouch. I believe he will be given another year. I sure hope he is not CU's John Blake.

I didn't hear the presser but that csu comment says to me they cannot properly prepare their back ups....

At least Blake could recruit.

Blake's recruits make key contributions to OU's 2000 Nat'l Championship team.

Blake's teams also got progressively better each year he was at OU. 3-8 his first season, 4-8 in year 2, 5-6 in year 3. Rumor had it that Blake was told by several of OU's regents that they would NOT vote to terminate him, and therefore he would be back for year 4. In fact the regent who had been most critical of Blake was not even present to vote, because he had gone out of state to be with his son, who was ill. But when the vote to terminate his contract came up it, it turned out that there were enough votes to terminate him (4-2) after all.
