Does Webb break the loss record?

Currently held by Adam Weber of Minnesota from 2007-2010 with a 17-32 record.

Webb is currently 5-22 and could be 5-28 at years end.

So, do we have the losing-est QB of all time as our starter?

No, we have the losing-est coaching staff.

Probably....and it seems fitting in a way.

no Webb is not the problem its the coaching with the right coaching we could have gotten to 6 wins with the talent that we have......man these coaches sucks and until the administration realize that we are gonna be bad for a while.In my heart i know Embree is a good man but he should have surrounded himself with a more experience (college coaching staff).

Webb is a big part of the problem

tini i agree but there have been plenty of times when it wasnt his fault, look at our play-calling, when have we seen any quick slants or audibles when teams shows blitz, what the use of EB being on the sideline when he dont recognize where teams are bringing the blitz from all in all i put it on the coaches.

Wait, our coaching is problem? When did this happen? Someone should start a thread about that.

Why not? everything else about this schools football program is pathetic...Sharp rocks at the bottom? bring it on !

Webb's not a good QB, probably not even a serviceable one, but I have a hard time putting any of this on the head of one guy. When you're outmanned at every position, how do you evaluate one guy as being the problem?

Well, I watch Webb throw 3 yards behind people on bubble screens and I figure I've seen all I need to know.

No one thinks Webb is our only problem, but make no mistake QB is a problem.

And while that is true, the coaching staff has WHIFFED on how many guys? Don't we have like 8 qbs on scholarship at this moment?
Webb who this staff brought in, at this point for reasons known only to them, is apparently better than:

Hirschman, a 3rd year HaLk recruit;
Wood, a 3rd year transfer from UT, given a schollie by this staff;
Dorman, a 2nd year player recruited by this staff;
Schrock, a 2nd year walk on brought in by this staff; and,
Dillon, a frosh who hasn't completely healed from his shoulder surgery.

It is pretty astounding Webb is the best available Qb. Granted, the problems are many, but a QB is one of them.

Say what you will about the coaching staff, but I doubt they'd start Webb if he wasn't the best QB (at least in practice) on our roster. Will be interesting to see how it plays out now, though. I think the staff went with Webb over Wood and Hirschman because he was a safer bet and wouldn't throw as many INTs. They probably figured that with limited turnovers we'd win at least three of the first four games and be in good shape. Now we're in terrible shape so I wonder if they roll the dice and go with Wood or Hirschman since they probably have more upside.

I think Webb probably is the best QB on the roster...a fact I find simply astounding. OzBuff has it right, the staff probably figured Webb would come in, be a stable quantity and allow them to post 2-3 W's in the first four games. If that had happened, I doubt the heat would be on Embo and staff.

Instead, the staff simply did not have the team ready to compete against athletically inferior opponenets in games 1 and 2, on a neutral field and at home to boot. That, IMO, was purely a function of coaching ineptitude.

Game 3 was more of the same, although Fresno St. was a much better team than CSU and Sac. St.

Game 4 was desperation time, and WSU miscues on D allowed two late long TD's that got CU back into a game they were out of...the team came back and took advantage and won.

Now CU is being outmanned, out coached and out played. Webbisn't the future, the season has been a complete and utter epic flop. Play Wood and Hirsch. See if either of them can get it done. If not, you can use the Spring to get Dillon ready, and use fall camp to see if Liufau can unseat Dillon.

I think the staff put a premium on Webb's experience on a young team with no Richardson but I don't buy him being the best QB. Wood could be very raw, who knows we haven't seen really anything in an actual game time where he played meaningful minutes. Dillon I think is far and wide the best QB on the roster, but is also still raw and a skinny freshman who would get crushed right now and could get injured or ruin his confidence.

I don't understand the staff not developing Wood or Hirsh because Webb has reached his ceiling long ago and is not going to win you games.

Both Wood and Dillon have been hurt, and that has limited their availability.

That leaves Webb, Hirschman, Schrock, Dorman as potential QB's.

Bad Coaches do it all the time. They feel more comfortable with their son Cody and play him even though Tyler is more talented.
fify. This isn't a new concept, I really have no idea if Wood or Hirsch really are better, but QB is just one of many problems on this team.

I wouldn't even limit it to bad coaches. I'm sure everyone remembers the Okie State game where we thought we had a chance until walk-on third stringer Brandon Weeden rolled in. Bill Parcells had a mancrush on Drew Bledsoe while Romo was chillin on the bench. It just kinda happens. I think coaches are pretty inherently conservative in their approach. They think they can outscheme opponents if their team just doesn't do stupid stuff and turn the ball over.

The reason Weeden didn't play is because OSU was running a much different offense with Zac Robinson at QB. Robinson was a run/pass QB. OSU ran a spread option formation somewhat similar to what Oregon runs today and what Texas ran with Vince Young. After Robinson left OSU tweaked their offense to be more of a passing offense, which suited Weeden better.

They changed their entire offense at halftime? Now that's impressive.

Good coaches do that.

CU changed its entire offense at halftime in Koy Detmer's first game at Minnesota.

You're missing the point entirely. Gundy didn't start Weeden before the game because he was his third string QB, not because their offense was different. If he knew Weeden was better than the #2 guy, he would've prepared the entire week with him and started him.

Weeden was the #3 QB because the offense was different. It wasn't until they changed to an entirely different offense that Weeden moved up the depth chart.
