Ok, I did it again. I wrote an email to the admin in response to his email I got yesterday highlighting the academic accomplishments of CU over the fall. I sent it to Benson, DiStefano and Bohn. I know I am probably wasting my time, but what the hell.

Hi President Benson,

I would like to see these communications to be more inclusive and contain updates on the Athletic Department. A great first article would include a feature from Mike Bohn on the vision for athletics and the strategy for brining it to reality. Right now we are in a dangerous position of losing many supporters of the football program due to the complete meltdown that we are witnessing on the field on a weekly basis. When we ask questions of the Chancellor or others in leadership positions, we are told that boosters need to donate. That is an interesting strategy. I am not aware of any business that asks investors to blindly invest their funds without some vision and plan for the future. There needs to be a compelling reason to place your investments into a business or a savvy investor will take their funds and place them where they have a better idea of the expected return. These are simple and basic lessons that are taught in entry level classes in the Leeds School of Business.

One way to unite the entire University community would be to make your communications more inclusive. The AD, anf the football program specifically, is a critical part of CU and provides many benefits. It is a fantastic marketing tool when it performs at an acceptable level. The basketball program is now doing this and we are reaping benefits from it. But football is critical to our AD. It pays the bills that keep many of of none revenue generating programs, many of which are women sports. It is the sport that unites and connects many of the Alumni with the University. In order to strengthen these ties and open the wallets of these Alumni, it is now time to explain to them the vision and plan for the AD and more specifically the football program. A successful academic institution and a successful football program are not mutually exclusive. One serves the other when both are held to high standards and they deliver on them. You lay out our accomplishments and expectations on the academic side very well. I only ask that you do the same for the AD and specifically the football team.

You accomplish what you focus on and right now, we are not accomplishing much on the football field. Please start to reach out to the alumni and fans and lay out the vision, plan and expectations for the football program. You might just be surprised how many would step up and open their wallets up and donate more if you did.

I kind of want to reply to Benson's email with "Go to hell, Benson". I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not...

I, for some stupid reason, never connected this before. The only real connection between CU and its alums are through sports. Right? I mean, alums come back to see football games. They do not come back for the School of Engineering bake sale. Hmm. Maybe Brucey should get THIS message.

Alumni association doesn't "get it" either. I received my 2013 calendar in the mail from the
alumni association, last week. Not one picture representing the football team, basketball, track or skiing
Its true we have a gorgeous campus, but like DBT stated, I don't come back to campus to look at the fall foliage

Athletics is a great marketing tool for a university. My case in point is my daughter's desire to apply to West Virginia... we went to the CU-WV game in Morgantown a couple of years ago and she loved the atmosphere.

We get it, we get it. Your sarcastic post is making fun of all of us for posting the same message over and over again.

Sports are the connection between the University and its alums. Sports generate excitement about our alma mater and give us incentive to donate and reinvigorates us to return to Boulder to be a part of the University community.

There, I said it again. And even if you don't approve of the repetition, I'm going to keep on saying it, because I believe it, and want our "leadership" to believe it too.

you need to change your name to andy dufresne.

Heh. I figured others were slightly annoyed as I was with the content of that e-mail.

he can trot out all the nobels he wants but if they don't show at least a passing desire to win in football, they won't get another dime from me. funny how that works.

I've been thoroughly disgusted with those people for a long time. I delete their ridiculous update emails when I get them. Bohn is not permitted to act on his own. DiStefano and Benson kept a worthless coach for a 4th and 5th year. I have sent all of them emails and hard copy letters. They do not care. Especially DiStefano. He is a useless little pantywaist.

I'm glad Brad still has the energy to after those guys.

I was pleased to read that 3 major awards were earned by CU professors in honor of their achievements.

That's wonderful.

And it's going to do nothing to move the needle in terms of increasing undergrad applications or exciting alums/boosters.

I don't know if i was technically "polite". I didn't use any naughty words, though.

You give him far too much credit.....

It's great. It's the main mission of a University. And it has nothing to do with whether or not a school can excel at football.

A little information Bruce and Phil may need to see:

#Mayans RT @KevinOnCFB: And Northwestern and Stanford. Hail nerds! RT @CFTBenKercheval: Vanderbilt & Duke are both bowl eligible.

Just saw this thread (of course, after starting a new thread about a related issue...sorry:bang:

I wrote a note to Benson a few weeks back when we were all discussing it. He just wrote me back. Personalized...answered the points I brought up, etc. I was pretty impressed that he'd take the time to do that. He may have been blowing smoke...but he did it. For what it's worth...(which probably ain't much...). At least we know he saw the complaints I sent!

Edited once to correct a stupid typo
