Terry Frei: "It's a five-year contract"

A response to a text questioning why he thinks 4-5 years for Embree should be inevitable.

Look how much Hawkins accomplished by giving him five years to dig a pit! Embree can only continue this if we give him 3 more years. This year, he's got this team increasing the spread between Points Scored and Points Allowed by over 100 points compared to last year after 10 games.

I am just imagining how much further he can guide CU Football. A 10-year plummet - so much can be accomplished in this. No wonder the Pac-12 loves us.

You text Terry Frei?

I guess he thinks Josh McDaniels should have gotten 4 years, too. Since he signed a 4 year contract.

Someone else texted the radio show he is on this morning. He and co-host are treating 4-5 years for Embree as a given without much question.

I will hang myself if Embree gets 4 years. I'm already shutting down if he gets 3

Terry Frei is determined to pretend that college football is still the same game it was when his father was in coaching at Oregon 40-50 years ago, and that it can be downsized from there. The next time he has a thought relevant to 21st century college football will be the first....

I suppose Frei also believes that a coach should honor his contract and never leave for another offer. It's got to be a 2-way street. Since CU has never had a coach leave before his contract was up (or use the threat as a negotiating ploy), CU needs to respect that and keep all coaches for the lengths of their contracts.

of course I do...there are several factors outside of their control...this was always a 5 year undertaking

This was his response to me asking him if he cared what was happening up in Boulder.

I think the job is done. I don't see how they could make things worse even if they're given 3 more years.

Unreal. Klatt would go after Hawk on a daily basis (rightfully so), but when it comes to an ex-Buff in Embree it's a 5 year undertaking so no worries? Uhh, time to take off the B&G glasses Joel. This program is being destroyed in front of our eyes.

I wonder what Stanford thinks about the assertion that you can't have elite academics and athletics at the same university, particularly considering that they are several orders of magnitude stronger than CU in academics.

Thats hilarious, imagine the roasting he'd give the last regime if they ran a QB sneak on 1st and 10.He's such a dick sucker sometimes.
