Serious Suggestion: Let's adopt another team

I don't mean permanently and I don't mean abandon our long-term loyalty to CU. We can keep rooting for them, BUT we could find an alternate team to also root for and support while Embree and the administration are content to drive our beloved program to the ground.

I am honestly serious. I love college football and CU is taking all of the fun out of being a college football fan. Who could we all root for that would not be traitorious (is that a word?) and still be fun?

I think it has to be Division 1, but maybe not BCS. How about a mid-major who runs the ship well and actually wins a lot and is competitive in all games.

I could even picture down the road we customize shirts that on the front have the team we have adopted and on the back says something like: Always a Buff at heart, etc.

We could all do this on our own, but it would be more fun and maybe show our solidarity if we agreed to support the same team.

P.S. Another criteria I'd have now that I think about it is that they should regularly be on TV so we can actually watch their games (and who knows maybe do a Buffs fans road trip to watch our adopted team too).

South Carolina ...... already been done. Who doesn't like the ****s? NTTAWWT.
Someone else adopted USC (carolina) from AB? That's funny-I got my Master's there and it was one of the schools I was thinking of supporting but I can't get excited about supporting an SEC team.

I am thinking more like a mid-major, like Boise State, Lousiana Tech, something like that. Boise State of course has its irony but I kind of like it. They are always competitive, on TV a lot, going to go to a bowl game almost every year.

I have the Broncos to follow while CU lies doormat (intentional).

Probably like many ABers I am also a Broncos fan. But it's not the same as college football. I want to root for a college football team that plays competitively and I have the impression CU won't qualify for that until maybe 2020 at this rate.

Unless you are talking about the Boise State broncos-than I'm with you.

It was me. Happened during the 52-7 asswhooping Cal put on us in 2010 while I sat at the Bear's Lair talking to that fine-ass blond lesbian bartender I liked.

I want all of the other teams to lose every game, too. **** 'em.

Wow-I think a hot blond lesbian bartender would get any man to change his stripes.

LSU

Les Miles is from the Buff coaching tree. Usually on TV and are usually in the hunt for the MNC.

The good thing about hot lesbos is they change orientation like Imelda Marcos changed shoes!

Back to FB: Stanford, great team, excellent coaching, no JCs, whacky band..........what's not to like?

I say no way to Texas b/c we hate TX even if we are not in the same conference anymore.

I actually like Stanford and see the rationale but we can't root for another team in the Big 12-I don't want to betray our core loyalty to CU.

I am not sure LSU is a good call either b/c they are a dominant SEC team and I think in general we are frustrated with SEC dominance, although Les is funny and he does have a tie to CU-and who knows maybe the Honey Badger will be back some day?

I still think a mid-major is safer as we are not violating our loyalties to CU.

I really think Boise State is a good choice. Another mountain state. Great team, great coach, strange blue field, and will beat CSU every time they play them unlike our beloved Buffs.

Their next game is Dec. 1st against Nevada.

By the way if you have never been to Boise, it is a cool, funky little town with mountains nearby, good beer, etc.

Thoughts?

I never understood the mindless hate for the huskers. I guess because my mom was a legal secretary for one whose wife was a CU grad. We can just all get along. I actually dislike BSU more, with their pretentious fans and utterly ridiculous blue field.

Aaaaaaaaaah! NOOOOOOO!!!

I am holding my silver crucifix, rosary and string of garlic bulbs against my monitor to ward off the evilness of that statement!

Why would you say that? Texas is first class in every way and Austin is a great town.

Only Notre Dame has won more football games in the history of college football. Texas is having a down season. The fans want Brown gone, but the Horns will still likely win 9 games this year.

If we can actually agree to support a team we could even create a section on AB w/ info on their recruiting and game threads (if there is interest). Again I think of it is as kind of the big brother-little brother program. We could adopt a little brother who is currently better than us.

But it seems it may be very difficult to get close to unanimity on this. If not I'll just go alone and pick my own alternative team to root for during the funk that is CU.

GTFO with that ****. Join another team's board if you have to.

Ok. Never mind. I'll root for another team on my own. But I still hold out hopes that one day, if not during my lifetime (I am 42), than during my son's (he is 8) the Buffs will be competing for Pac 12 (or Pac16 or Pac24) titles, Rose Bowls and occasionally national championships.

I will always be a Buff fan-and I have a tattoo to prove it.

Yes, this has turned into a bizzare, weird uncle thing. I vote to ban boydbuff. It will be a cold day in hell before i even pretend to like another team. I can watch any college game on tv and root for any foe on any given saturday, but my blood is black and gold and following some other ****** colored team is not going to bury the pain and suffering I am going through right now. I will root for a 0 and 12 Colorado over any suck aşs team from anywhere else. Especially Tejas!

Go ahead and ban me if that is what the crowd wants. I never suggested rooting for TX, or any BCS team for that matter. I am at my wit's end with how the administration and the founder of Buffs4Life are making a mockery of my beloved team. If the administration wants to prolong our misery by giving Embree more time, I honestly need to take some time away from the Buffs anyway because it is just too painful.

It is one thing being a fan of a team that is not great but shows up to play and you know that on any given day if they really put it together they could upset a ranked team. Embree has brought us so low that we can't even beat an FCS team.

If you think my desire to support another team (while maintaining loyalty to the Buffs) that actually has a chance to win once in a while is grounds for banning than go for it.

Stanford.

That was a masterful defensive performance they put on to beat Oregon's Pro team. So enjoyable to watch. What a physical defense.

Texas fans are like promiscuous Scientologists who are afraid to acknowledge their true sexual orientation. I would much rather be an Aggie. Screw Texas, Gig' you!

That's a good compromise Nik. Who should we root for? I always like the underdog so how about Eastern Washington?

Fixed what I'd typed.

I can go for Eastern Washington. At least that's an FCS team I can say the Buffs had a lucky win against.

Such strange and misguided hostility. What is the source of this? Texas fans support their school, the football teams wins and Austin is a fantastic town. WTF?
