Could not resist one more email to the regents, MB, BB, and PD. I am a glutton and cannot walk away.

Hello all,

I am going to take one more a swing at trying to convince you to make changes across the board in the coaching staff of the CU football program. The Buufs4Life crowd has been using their media contacts and Coach Mac to sell the case for keeping Jon Embree. I am not going to go over the complete failings of the staff from a progression standpoint as the evidence and numbers have all been put before you. If these are not enough to convince you to make a change, maybe the following will help.

College athletics, and more specifically football at CU, are the front porch to the CU house. The create an inviting atmosphere which connects the entire college ecosystem. An attractive front porch provides a place that creates a sense of pride with the current students. The porch provides a gathering place for alumni and boosters. The porch provides a connection between past, present and future. It also provides a place where people who want to give back to a great place that dominated their life for 4 or 5 years can invest .

The porch is also a place to entertain and build the reputation of the University Cross the nation. The marketing value and reach are hard to measure but as 60 Minutes points out, the value is tremendously beneficial in drawing students and financial support to the University as a whole.

I do not want to tie up a lot more of your time, but right now we have a porch in our football program that is neglected, mismanaged and falling into extreme disrepair. The damage to the CU brand from continued neglect to the CU football program will negatively impact the coverage afforded CU on national sports programs, the coverage CU will receive will be predominately negative or take comedic shots at the program (we are already seeing this across the board), the University will become less attractive to out of state students primarily from lack of coverage and the negative perception of the University. CU gear sales will continue to decline. And finally, as a result of much of the above, the CU brand will continue to decline in value.

The cost to buy out this staff is minimal when compared to the loses that will ring up: loss in season ticket sales next year (they are going to fall dramatically), the loss of parking and concession fees, the loss in merchandise sales, the loss of licensing revenue, and worst of all, the loss of Brand equity across the board.

If there were any sort of hint at improvement on the field, in recruiting or even in the performance/preparation of the kids each week, I would not be writing this letter to you. I do not see how you can justify keeping Jon or the staff another year. In every aspect this program has gotten worse than when Jon took it over from Dan Hawkins. Do not be fooled by those who tell you it will get better next year. Recruiting will be much worse this year than last. Recruiting next year will suffer even more. The team has no identity. There are not adjustments being made. Kids are regressing. In other words, there is not much to indicate where it will get better.

If you do not make a move, you are just kicking the can down the road and will have to make the move to replace the staff next year. The savings in actual dollars are pretty small compared to what will be lost..

Sincerely,

The Porch is a cool way of looking at it.. Nice! I am just so worried no one is listening.

You letter writers are naive.

Shut the hell up. Brad, Nik, and anyone else who is writing letters is taking initiative and showing that they care too much about the university and the football team for this to continue. It may not work out but it's worth the shot to let them know how we feel.

Unbelievably Mike Bohn returned my e-mail. Apparently he enjoyed the points and thanked me. Wow do I feel he's ready to pull the trigger(Bull*$it). This guy, regents, chancellor and president should not be able to open their e-mail without rolling their eyes at another Buff fan sending them something else. Carpetbomb them and show the care that all Buff fans around the country after seeing the utter disgrace this team has become.

I'll say whatever I want. But isn't that the definition of naive?

I plan on writing them a letter after they announce that Embree will be retained. I want to thank them for releasing me from any obligation to give a damn about CU football.

Man you are a ****ing douche
You are really into name calling. Do you do that to people in real life? To their face? Or just on the internet. I'm not challenging you; I'm no fighter, but do you find that you call other people names to their face as often as you do in the interweb?

Yup, but I also don't think most people I've met are douchebags, unlike you, an arrogant douchebag.

I feel your pain and agree. That is why when I started the thread today on Giving thanks, I said I give thinks to Embree for allowing me to spend 4 hours more per week with my family.

If that makes you feel better, then do it, honestly. It's a good way to vent and organize your thoughts and feelings. But don't kid yourself, man. They could not care less. You can write a letter to the United Nations, IBM, Obama or Santa Claus; and it will have about the same impact.

I don't know you either Walt but I gotta go with the herd on this. You're a douche.
Yes, vent your anger. I'm glad I can help with that. Feel free to add other insults. I'm here to help you with your problems. I don't know you either, but I'm guessing you can do better than just douche. Come on! Let it rip, man.

Tell me what you think naive means.

I owe you a response and here it is. I am not Naive. I understand that my letters and posting them here will not be the decisive blow one way or another. But am I going to stop caring or working for a better program in Boulder? No I am not. I could be like you or at least what you appear to be on this board. You have complained some. You seem unhappy with the direction of the program. But instead of doing anything at all, you call others naive for trying.

my efforts may not pay off this round but I am earning the right to continue the conversation with others who care and the powers that be up in Boulder. I may not like all of their responses, but I am at least involved in a dialog about what is right for the future of the program. I have gotten responses from some of the Regents and admin that are supportive and agree with what I am asking for. Others pat me on the head and thank me for my contribution.

At any rate, I care enough to do more than follow the heard. Call it naive, but I know I have tried.
