You put your heart and soul into your dream job and it didn't work out. No one wanted to succeed worse than you did and I can't imagine how bad you feel. You will always be a great Buff in my eyes (just not a great HC). While I agree with the move, and think it is in the best interest of the Program and the University, I take no pleasure in it.

Thanks, Jon, for giving it your all. Unfortunately, it just wasn't good enough. I wish you the best in your future endeavors.

You're one hell of a Buff Embree. You wanted nothing but the best for us and we wish you nothing but the best too.

I was luke warm when he was hired then totally behind him after I accepted we didn't go after a big time proven coach. And I have been an outspoken critic this year as have many other ABers. I am honestly overjoyed we are going in a new direction but I 1000% agree with this thread.

Hard to find a coach of any BCS school who wanted to win and restore the pride in a program more than JE did. Noone denies his dedication, passion and commitment to the school. Good luck with your next move.

BTW, I'm repping Spaceman for starting the thread.

Doesn't diminish what he did as a player and assistant for the program nor for any of the other assistants.

What else can you say that hasn't. This was an emotional hire. I think Embree and Bieniemy are some of the greatest Buffs there but this is about money and success. If they held on a year too long for Hawkins and his no recruiting they would have done the same with no OC and DC but bring back the HC? Damn, just do it yourself. It's time for this group to get it together and get a HC with real experience and salvage this program, recruiting, fans, donors.

I was not a fan when JE was hired as the new HC, and was very critical of his coaching..... but as said before, cant take away what he has done for CU as a player and assistant and the tradition that he brought back......

Mostly a bittersweet moment right now. We all knew what had to be done (unfortunately). He is still a Buff and did do some good while here. He cared deeply for his school. Hopefully in the future he can have a role with the team, for now good luck with whatever the future brings Embree!!

Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you.

Thank you, Jon, for the investment of your heart and soul.

That was one hell of a ride. May this experience make you stronger and better equipped for your next endeavour. I'll be cheering for you.

John restored many of the traditions of CU football, many of which hawk burnt and discarded. Thank you Embree for restoring much of the tradition. I just wish that the hole had not been so deep that the most important tradition of all - winning, proved to be the one tradition which eluded this team. I wish you nothing but the best in your future.

No hard feelings at all towards Jon, he tried he just wast equipped to be successful.

I hate that it came to this, and hate that it is hurting so many, but I absolutely believe it was the right thing. Jon is a good man, and I hope that time will heal these wounds. He is a good coach and should have no problem finding work again.

Very well put Spiff

Rep to the OP. Shame it didn't work because I guarantee there are few people who care more about the program than Jon.

Every coach understands that in all likelyhood, they will be fired eventually. Even from their dream jobs. For Embree, the end came far sooner than he envisioned. Nonetheless I know he will always bleed black and gold. Go Buffs

Bump. Embo deserves our appreciation... things didn't work out, but he is not Hawk, no need at all to bash the man, thank him and move on. Always a great Buff!

I agree. No hard feelings. Thanks for the effort. I wish you could have been successful. Good luck in your new ventures.

As bad as this season was JE left the program in better shape for the future than he found it. He is a Buff through and through and I thank him for his efforts.

He did the very best he could, unfortunately this time it wasn't enough. He wasn't the right man for this particular situation although considering what Hawkins left I wonder who would have been.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Embree at some point in the future doesn't end up with another head coaching job and it also wouldn't surprise me if he succeeds at it. Again this situation was more than he was ready to deal with at this moment in his career.

I agree 100% with this sentiment....while I may have been overjoyed when this happened to the HaLk, I certainly take no joy in the path that had to occur with Embree.

Like many, I wasn't exactly excited by the hire immediately and never saw anything that pointed towards things improving under Embree's reign. Thus, I agreed with the decision to move forward (assuming they actually move forward in the right direction with a legitimate named hire), but know that I always rooted and wanted for Jon and EB to succeed. Their love for the school is no doubt in question, but sometimes that simply isn't enough and I wish Jon the best of luck moving forward in his career.
