Shoot for the moon - Hire Jim Tressel

I know he has the "show cause" issue but it has no teeth. He just misses the first 5 games and the bowl game in his first season. He is not prohibited from recruiting.

I just listened to Solomon Wilcox on the radio make a strong case for Tressel. He said in his job he talks to a lot of coaches and Tressel would be on the top of a lot of lists.

Give him a shot at redemption.

Hey. We tried doing it the right way and it didn't work, so we might as well try doing it the wrong way.

i agree, He's my first choice, but I dont think the admin could do it... if they didnt i'd like charlie strong tedford or Dave Doeren in no specific order

According to Jens on twitter, "Jens1893: @Rumblinbuffalo It is not. One mis step and the football program gets nuked from space."

not necessarily nuked from orbit... but whats the difference between what we've seen the last 7 years and a school with major ncaa sanctions?

The show cause thing scares the crap out of me and given Bohn's comments in the presser regarding "doing it right" and "no shortcuts", I just don't see them taking a shot on a tarnished coach like Tressel (or Petrino).

I don't care for Tressel, but I think he'd make CU a winner if he was hired.

Death penalty at least gives an excuse to be that bad, therefore not quite as embarrassing as our situation. Wasn't there a ESPN writer that said basically "if you want to see a team get the death penalty without actually getting the death penalty, look at Colorado"?

thats my point... we are irrelevant and on the verge of not ever coming back... if there was ever a time to risk it... this is it

No **** - we basically nuked ourselves from orbit so that threat has less teeth.

Tressel or a Jon Gruden would definitely sit at the top of my "shoot for the moon" list.....just not sure how realistic that is or how serious this Admin really is

Talk is cheap...so we'll see

Ringo had a tweet that Bohn told him no coach currently under show cause sanctions would be considered, fwiw.

Absolutely agree... If we have even the remotest chance a Jim Tressel, we gotta take it. Talk about making a splash. Any ill will Bohn has got from those who opposed the firing would be made up for immediately.

My post was mostly tongue-in-cheek. I know that Tressel will not be hired nor Petrino. I just don't get very excited by guys like Tedford...we need someone who will get some credibility into the program.

There are other options besides failed retreads and playing Russian Roulette with bullets in 5 of 6 chambers.

Regarding Tressel: That Ohio State fans gave him a monstrous, standing ovation this Saturday, on the same day that their Buckeyes clinched an undefeated season that a) was accomplished mostly with players Tressel recruited, and b) would not be followed with a national title shot because Tressel got them banned from the postseason reminds us what we really look for in a new coach: Wins. Sure, class, character, yadda yadda yadda. Just win, and we'll talk ourselves into it being okay.

I'd Gruden in Boulder more than on MNF broadcasts.

If he goes anywhere this year, it'll be Tennessee or one of the other SEC schools.

Probably won't go anywhere though - I think he likes the annual bj contests he gets.

Gruden likes golfing 300 days a year, and the attention that comes with pretending he's interested in coaching again. He's the hot married woman who still likes to flirt, but isn't going anywhere.

The interview with Solomon was pretty darn good. He stated he was a friend of Embree's but it was clear he was not getting the job done. He also felt the CU job could be pretty attractive and mentioned to go after Tressel, as BnG posted. He also stated when the job came open last go around he received calls from big name coaches that were interested.

There are only a few programs in the country who wouldn't want Jim Tressel when his sanctions expire. I can virtually guarantee he wants no part of this circus.

His attempt at evasion about the big name he talked to was pretty lame. It was obviously Mora, which isn't exactly a secret.
