Buffs 4 Life - Let's be fair, guys

As was pointed out to me, I was being unfair to label "Camp Embree" as B4L.

I ask everyone to get away from that.

B4L is a charity with a worthy mission to help out Buffs in need and uses additional resources to provide charitable contributions to other worthy causes.

In case any evidence is needed that B4L isn't a unified political group with an Embree agenda, I direct you to Solomon Wilcots going on the radio today to say that there are plenty of coaches with high interest in this job. He also did not come out against the coaching change.

Wilcots is one of the most active B4L members whose name you will see attached to pretty much every B4L event or charitable initiative.

Let's not allow an inaccurate label to harm a charity that all Buff fans should believe in.

I don't have a problem with B4L it's a good organization they just need to keep the political side out of it and focus on what they were founded on.

Agreed, would C-club be a better correlation?

Nothing against them but we are seeing an old guard mentality to this group which is inhibiting growth of the football program at this juncture. They are led by mouth pieces in the local media who will not be named. We all know them. Bohn was right in saying that they all need to stand together.

I think there are generational factions to the B4L crew too. I know a member of B4L - big time donor, played with Embree... he & his friends feel responsible for this debacle. I think some of the younger crew just go back to the Barnett era and are at odds with everything Bohn is doing.

But the group as a whole has a great mission and I would hate for all the good that they do be wiped away by a coaching hire that never should have been...

Probably not good either. There are former Buffs that will fall on the same side as Solomon. Nik is right in that none of these groups are one hundred percent in Embrees corner in this mess. They are all guys that are pretty tight with him and it really is more like the Embree Camp

True, plus I think the C-Club includes all letter winners from all sports.

agreed. we should call it a faction BFaction4L

Give them a compound outside of Niwot where they can all have their own radio shows but the signal is not strong enough to transmit any of what they say farther than the next block away.

Yeah I mean buffs4life has literally helped save peoples lives but let's have fun with our lynch mob!

Damn I am chasing you around this damn board. In case you didnt read the OP Nik said that B4L is a good organization and a charity that helps many people. There is a fraction of the B4L group that is acting in a detrimental way to the university right now.

No i know - Nik is right, I'm agreeing with him. That post was targeted at everyone using buffs4life in a negative way.

he got paid 750k per win. I will take that raw deal any day.

No, financially it's a sweet deal, that's for sure. But what I saw today was a man to whom money doesn't matter. He just lost his dream job, that's the raw deal. No amount of money could make it taste anything but bitter.

No one here is claiming that it doesn't suck that Embree lost his dream job. We all know how much this job and this university means to him. But college football is not about feelings. It is about results. Unfortunately with this coaching staff there were no positive on the field results, which are ultimately measured in W's and L's.

guess he shouldn't have put forward the worst football product that CU has ever seen. Seriously, it was the worst. He broke records set by Chuck Fairbanks. Only thing he didn't do was get blown out by Sac state. He didn't get a RAW deal. He just sucked at his job in an epic fashion.

A lot of people are claiming that. As for on the field results, they were coming and there were a few there. He had the same amount road wins as Hawk in less than half the time.

He also more than doubled the average loss margin and was the first coach to never win a game at Folsom Field. He led us to the worst season we statistically have ever had. Chuck Fairbanks and the powder blue were our lowest points, now they are Jon Embree and the 1990 throwbacks.

I think there are arguments as to why he should have been fired. But in my opinion, when you see him changing the culture, keeping players out of trouble, and succeeding in the classroom, you let him build that foundation, and you give him time!

on field results? are you serious? If you want to try and maintain credibility, this is not the way to go about it. What on field results? 2 (admittedly fluky) road wins? in 2 years?

and are you including the CSU game at mile high as a road win? jesus.

No i said they had the same amount. 2 (two) road wins for both coaches. I just think it takes time, and that you have to go through some lean years to have success. Would you have fired Mac after his third year? Probably.

The on field results were there guys. Just load up the Fresno St game tape. On field results all over the place.

Please stop insulting Mac's legacy by comparing this year to 1984. This year was qualitatively worse, in every way, than Mac's 3d year.

What other on field results can you point to? Cause right now, HaLk and Embree are tied in your all important road wins category over two years.

ooooh, don't forget to compare recruiting results as well.

How about home wins? How many of those did he have?

As for on field results? In 2010 they were ranked #84 in offense (that got Hawkins fired). 2011 - #82. 2012 - #116
Total defense: 2010 #86 2011 #107 2012 #121

Yep, things were really coming together on the field....

As unfair as it might be, the correlation between B4L and this entire debacle has been made throughout the media. That, coupled with the poor actions of a few of its members yesterday, could have an adverse effect on the organization as a whole. Granted, it might (hopefully) be nothing, but perception is reality and that perception hasn't improved in the last two days.

Not sure how well that would work with McChesney being from Niwot.
