Looks as though the negotiating has continued.

ACC may be announcing as early as tomorrow that Louisville will become a member. In all honesty, they quite arguably bring better basketball and football than Maryland..

Certainly better basketball. L'ville is a top 10 program historically and currently. (Kind of drives home how off the charts UK is that Louisville gets overshadowed so much.) Football is strong, too. I think they'd be a nice fit for the conference. Not much of a home media market, but brings quite a bit of national cache.

no doubt it would.

Louisville a better fit with the Big12 and WVU a better fit with the ACC

WVU fits in with no one. I would argue that Louisville fits in more with the ACC than the Big XII too.

As I said last night, this went down.

And Jimmy, WVU, in terms of their fanbase culture has actually found the closest fit they could find: the Big XII. Obviously the geography is ridiculous, but to say there's a slight different between the wine and cheese types of UVA/UNC and the couch burning, bear marrying fans of WVU is an understatement. WVU was NOT a good fit for the ACC, they're much better off palling around with Okie Lite and KState. At least with Louisville, despite relatively weak academics, there's the shared tradition of excellent basketball with the ACC.

Louisville to the ACC. Its biggest supporters? Florida State, Clemson and Syracuse. The first two are especially important.

Yep, UVA, UNC, Wake and Duke were jockeying hard for UConn instead of Louisville. Those schools have huge donor bases in Connecticut.

Louisville will replace Maryland as Virginia's "cross-divsional" partner, meaning they're guaranteed to play every year in football and twice in basketball despite being in separate divisions. "The war of I-64". 7 hour drive between Charlottesville and Louisville.
