BLATHERING BILL
Coach Mac's latest ramblings are off-the-charts wrong
By Eric Goodman | @ericgoodman

Bill McCartney is like a crazy uncle who keeps inviting himself over to your house for dinner. He's the guest who won't leave, no matter how many times you try to coax him out the door....

"Men of color have a more difficult road to tread," he said. "It didn't happen to me. Why should it happen to a black man?"

Even without all the racism charges, how soon would it be until Jon Embree was a head coach again on any level? Hell, how soon until he even got an interview for a head coach job? All the racism talk just about guarantees people shy away from him....

Well said. I am glad some in the media from ESPN on down are now coming to their senses and not blindly following Mac. I honestly think we need to ban Mac from having any involvement with any coaches or member of the CU administration, players ,etc.

He is now a disgrace to the program and is embarrassing himself and CU. He is painting Bohn and others as racist and using apples and orange comparisons as "proof". Noone should claim another to be racist without having convincing evidence.

The only convincing evidence that exists on this matter is that Embree was in WAAAAAAAAAY over his head. He should never have been the HC of Colorado but in part at least, Mac is to blame for that. Now he's to blame for creating a national controversy out of nothing. Embree was not fit to be the HC of a BCS school and the proof is in the pudding.

He's lucky to get another TE coaching gig for a while at this point.

Great article. I think it succinctly states what a lot of us are thinking/feeling.

I have to LOL @ the crazy uncle line to start off the article. It made me think of Bobby Moynihan's 'drunk uncle' skits on SNL.

Jon should not interview for a HC job. He wasn't qualified for this one. He needs to be a tight end slash assistant OC and learn the ropes. Then he needs to be a OC. When he shows success at that, he should be a D2 or DBS level HC. then a BCS level coach. His problem was he got jumped over many steps and years of experience because Mac pushed for his hire. Bohn may have put him in a position to fail....but Mac did even moreso.

Can we make it a point to always directly link to the article instead of copy/pasting it? I want to make sure it gets the proper traffic.

That is our policy. I have edited the original post into a teaser and provided the link.

Agree, Mac wanted to help launch Embo and EB. But he's only harmed them.

Somebody needs to get in Mac's ear and inform him that he's really NOT helping Black coaches. In fact, he's making it much, much harder on them. If you can't fire an incompetent coach because of the color of his skin, you won't hire him in the first place... due to the color of his skin. I'm certain Mac has no idea about the damage he's doing, but somebody close to him really needs to pull him off the ledge on this. He's hurting the very people he's trying to help.
