Is SHT really better then Wes Gordon?

I find that very hard to believe, Tunks is terrible and there were very positive report about Wes prior to the season. I'm sure that it is benificial to Gordon the individual to red-shirt but the you have to think the team as a whole would be better off with him playing. We're ranked, lets strike while the iron is hot rather then worrying about four years from now. Tad shouldn't be giving players the choice to red-shirt or not.

Yes random internet person, it is wise to question the best basketball cu has ever had. He probably had no idea what he is doing.

You honestly believe that we are a better team with Tunks on the court then with Gordon? Have you watched a game this year?

Didnt Gordon ask for the RS?

First, I think you have it backwards. As I understand it, the coaches wanted to redshirt Gordon and Jenkins because they think it's best for those players and the program long term, but they gave the players the choice not to redshirt if they wanted to play, knowing that their minutes would likely be limited.

Second, what is best for the team in the short term does not necessarily equate to what is best for the team long term. I didn't see Gordon play, but all reports are that he's still very raw. Maybe he's marginally better than Tunks at this point, I don't know. But to burn a redshirt you have to think he offers enough to this year's team to jump up a level (i.e. take from mid-Pac 12 to champion, or move from first weekend NCAA tourney to Sweet 16 or beyond). I'll trust Tad & Co. to make that determination.

My theory is that the northern hemisphere is throwing him off and making him look a bit clumsy. Remember when the Simpsons went to Australia and they had the toilet machine that reversed the water flow to make them feel more at home? If only someone could apply that effect to a basketball, Shane would be spinning shots up and in.

Yes he did.

Not SHT is not better than Gordon but Gordon redshirting is much better for the program moving forward.

i'm kind of thinking tad is a genius in handling his recruits for each year. As to your question.. no, but and its a big but... they are 2 different players and Tad is all about matchups... plus the fact that SHT may leave after graduating, even though he could play another year of collegiate bball, but heck he could play professionally in Australia... Also by red shirting Jenkins and Gordon, Tad reduces the back log for minutes...If they didn't redshirt, we'd have a 12 man rotation w/ the bench all getting drips and drabs of a few minutes which could hamper those player development for the next year... Clearly both players are ready to play NOW, but they will be better players next year w/ Chen and plus 1-2 more players graduating/leaving.
If you look at the bball education of chen, redshirt year guarding the likes of Higgins, Burks,Nate, Levi and Marcus, then last year guarding Ski, Nate, the Mayor, and Carlon...Tad has made him into one hell of a defender as witnessed guarding Helsip, Wilson and then the 2nd half on Strong.... Tad's plan is going to make Gordon and Jenkins serious players for the next 2-4 years to come....If we look at Gordon, he's very Dre'esque, as is X johnson, We don't need 3 of them...We do need 1 big body like SHT when we play a handful of the P12 teams... And then when Gordon is ready to play next year w/ hopefully an extra 10-20lbs of muscle, Dre will have left for the NBA, and Gordon slides in... CU basketball w/ the way Tad is structuring the schollies and class recruits is possible that he's creating a sustainable top 25 team for the next 3-5 years... I'm totally in on that....

I like big butts and I cannot lie.

Last night I noticed Boyle went with a front court rotation of Scott, Roberson and XJ a lot. I think that Tunks has relegated himself to being a body that will be used against another big body like Iverson when we play CSU next week

Absolutely dead on... in the post game interview w/ Tad, he clearly stated that SHT will be needed when they go up against teams w/ big front courts... that SHT is not a good matchup w/ smaller, quicker teams...

It's not an issue of whether Gordon is better then SHT. It's more of an issue of it benefiting Gordon and CU long-term if Gordon redshirts, hits the weight room hard and likely starts as a redshirt Freshman. You get potentially four years of him as a starter that way

That doesn't actually happen. Clearly you need more info on the workings of coriolis force.

Wes is a better basketball player than Shane.

But not enough better to earn more than 5-8 minutes a game right now.

Being able to redshirt Wes was a luxury we didn't use to have. The patience will pay off. Good to have him and Josh in different classes and to give Wes that additional year when he will probably be all-conference.
