MIke MacIntyre apparently in the running

None of the local media is reporting it and we've been all quiet about MacIntyre at AB, although I posted his profile the other day along with the others we are considering.

I just read this on a Kentucky radio site:
http://kentuckysportsradio.com/?p=122409
from what I have been seeing online and hearing from insider reporter for ESPN it look’s like Patrino will be the Auburn head coach , Butch Jones to Tenn , and Mike MacIntyre to Colorado , UK is said to probably hire Neal brown or Kurt Kilsberry , and Arkansas is set to hire Sunny dykes no Joke so major shake up!

Seems worthy of a thread. I kind of like that we could have a new Coach Mac and in the process rid ourselves of the old one.

San Jose Mercury News has MacIntyre saying he wants to stay there. But since he only makes $450K, I'm guessing a pay jump of over $1M might change his mind.

No thank you. Build a true BCS buster out there at SJSU and then we can talk. This guy is not worth the money Bohn is talking about throwing around.

It's amazing how much speculation there is by folks in the media that clearly have NO CLUE! Guess it generates chatter, which is what they want.

That's an old scoop, 11/26 mid-day. I have no clue who Kurt Kilsberry is either (Kliff Kingsbury?)

MacIntyre has done a fantastic job at SJSU, but if we are throwing around the $2.3-2.5 mil salary, that would be one hell of a jump to give to a 400k coach.

Just because we have that much money to spend, does not mean that is what a coach is going to be paid.

Land Charlie Strong? expect to pay close to $3 mil.

Land MacIntyre? expect to pay close to $1.5 mil.

True. I would be fine with MacIntyre, but would hope other options are explored first (as mentioned Strong)...

I know MacIntyre is a legit option for Cal it seems.
Yes I read the other day he was being considered for Cal but that he wasn't their #1. Of course they were supposedly going after Peterson w/ their #1 choice and that seems improbable. Although rumours suggest he is less than thrilled w/ the move to the Big East and the new AD.

Who the hell knows-right now it is all speculation and he said-she said.

MacIntyre would be an excellent hire. One of the most impressive rebuilding jobs in recent history. You think our admin support for football is bad? SJSU was about to drop their football program. Amidst the threat of that, he has progressed the Spartans to a 10-2 season in just 3 years. Remarkable.

That 10-2 record? A direct result of water bottles AND a brand spanking new desk!

If only Bohn had known: Fresno would have held to 14 pts. in the 1st qtr.; Berry would have been held to less than a hundred yards rushing; and the Buffs would have squibb-kicked to Utah after Mosely's TD!!!!

I think I read they have a conventional offense instead of spread - is this a + or - for the CU gig?

Not sure it matters since he is a Defensive guy and we don't know what he'd do as far as an OC. I assume looking at the Pac 12 landscape he'd look at some kind of spread, but who knows?

gotcha. anyone who wins 10 games at san jose state is legit, he built it from almost nothing. just wish he had one more year of showing it was sustainable. not too many jucos on the roster which is good, he's emphasizing hs kids.

SJSU has thrown for 3,930 yards (327.5 ypg), which is No. 11 in the country. They've thrown it 425 times, completing 71 percent.
Even if it is pro-style, those are some really good numbers. If you take a downhill guy like Powell and have an offense that still throws it a lot for that sort of success, I'll take it, even if it isn't your standard spread.

I do not wish to reveal my relationship with SJSU and their program, but I will tell you that Coach McIntyre has single handily revived their program. Their operating budget makes CU look like we are Notre Dame. He has amassed a group of assistant coaches that are very skilled and truly care about their kids.

Most programs that make the leaps and bounds in such a short period of time will bend or break the rules. SJSU is doing things by the book and have outperformed even some of their most optimistic projections.

We would be very lucky to have Coach MacIntyre at CU.

What are your credentials on this matter?

I will not reveal my relationship with SJSU's program, but I can assure you that I have insights into this that the public does not. That is all I can say.

I will reiterate the fact that we would be very lucky to have Coach Mac in Boulder.
