Article: A Call for Buff Nation to Unite

Tone down the negativity on the All Buff Website?! Where was that call all season when 99% of the post where about firing " the whole F'ing staff" on the spot and all the anger towards the staff and administration? Now that everyone got what they wanted (everyone outright fired), the plea is for everyone to make nice and and pull out our pom-poms? Nope, part of calling for drastic knee-jerk changes is dealing with all the bad fallout and set backs that come with it. Welcome to fallout for the whole nation to see.

I won't even address your perception of the site all season. But what you are pretty much saying is that you are in favor of doing what you can to make CU fail out of spite?

I understand that not everyone can be supportive right now.

I don't see the need for someone to start fires or to throw kerosene on it every time he sees a spark.

No, I'm not in favor of doing anything (other than commenting on the post, i suppose) to make CU fail and was simply pointing out that people can't expect to demand a staff to be fired in less than 2 years and not expect there to be a lot of turmoil when it happens. I would like nothing more than for everybody to be "good" with Embree being fired, no players that want to transfer, no recruits backing out, no ex-coaches claiming racism, no ex-players on the radio making things worse, and a new magical coach who will give is a winning season next year.

All I was saying is that all this crap should have been expected now that Bohn has granted the wish.

I agree, i never did see the need for anyone to start fires or throw kerosene on a spark ( throughout the season or now).

Fair enough. Blowback isn't a surprise. The degree of it and the nature of it is. I'm struggling to think of something similar. Only thing I can come up with are with some coaches who were at their schools for a long time (Fulmer, Bowden, Paterno) and were legends at their schools. This seems unprecedented.

I'm all for the positive, but I personally would like to wait and see who Bohn and Co. decide on for the next head coach and whether or not they are truly committed to CU football as the foundation for growth in CU athletics as a whole. When they actually fired Jon I thought for sure the only reason for doing so was because they had the commitment of a big name, big time winning college football coach waiting in the wings. In my opinion, that's the ONLY thing that could have justified not giving Jon another year. If that doesn't happen (and it seems pretty obvious at this point that it's not going to), the team has my support (as they always have and always will) but Bohn-head and Co. can go "f" themselves.

While I may agree with the sentiment, if I were Camp Water Bottle, my response would be "We were calling for that ALL YEAR and look what it got us!"

Folks need to stop with the Water Bottle name calling.

And HistoryBuff - I respect your opinion and am holding my breath while Bohn searches for our next coach, but I don't agree that he had to have a big name, "home run" hire waiting in the wings as the only reason to fire Coach Embree. His reason (I think) was that Jon's team had not shown any significant progress on the field and without any past head coaching success to prove the capability to turn things around, Bohn feared a death spiral (record, attendance, recruiting, etc). He was fired because his performance was not acceptable in Bohn's eyes.

I'm new to the neighborhood.....Camp Water Bottle? Don't get it.

Part of the anti-Bohn campaign was to release info through some media guys that Embree bought bottled water for the assistant coaches because it wasn't provided. Report was discredited as way overblown and incorrect. That's where it comes from and I wish it would just die. Stuff like that dominating the discussion doesn't do anyone any good.

Water Bottle lives on given the completely non-credible accusations that are being made in regards to racism. It can die when that dies.

I know that this thread is about reconciliation, so I'll ask you this question in the spirit of understanding our competing viewpoints:

Do you understand how your use of the word "only" (sans CAPS) might be arguable?

Yes, I understand how one might argue against my personal opinion. I've expressed this in another string, and there was plenty of bantering. That said, my opinion remains that Embree should have been given one more year. No need to go into all the details behind my opinion, they can be read on the other posts. I'm well aware that there are plenty who disagree. And relative to the "Water Bottle" issue, thanks for pointing that out Buffnik. I would hope that while there are many here who agree with Jon's firing given his W-L record, there aren't many who can criticize the man who Jon is and what he's given to CU football over the years.

Let's see how this plays out as many of the BCS coaches that would appear to be on Bohn's list (I am obviously making an assumption here), are probably still playing games. All we really know that is he claims to have done the background work, it is a current BCS HC, the guy is very respected in coaching circles, and that it is not Petrino or Tressel or most likely Strong. We are not going to get an answer until whoever this coach is has finished coaching the season but prior to the bowl season. My guess is this will be over by next week and we can then see who on this board thinks it is a big enough splash. The the arguements about good versus underwhelming hire may commence. In the mean time, the speculation is a lot more fun than getting beat by 46 each week and keeps CU in the media eye.
