Bronco Mendenhall?

According to Woody Paige, he might be on the list as well.

Not a fan. I have a BYU buddy who would be immensely grateful if we took Mendenhall off his hands.

BUT, in his defense, took over a program that had suffered under Gary Crowton, has had some success, if not LaVell Edwards success, and BYU did have a great defense this year. They probably should have beaten the Domers.

Still.... can't believe we would go from Charlie Strong to Bronco freaking Mendenhall.

I always laugh when I hear this, as if it legitimizes a stance. There are tons of LSU fans who don't like Les Miles, and they are straight up dumbasses.

Is there anyone that is not on Woody's list?

To me it is clear Woody has no idea who CU is targeting, and is throwing out any name he can think of.

Fair enough.

Still not a fan. Watched quite a bit of BYU football this year - I didn't think Mendenhall managed his QB situation very well, they should have lost to USU, they did lose to Utah, and their offense was complete crap. Yes, they still should have beaten the Irish, but this is not the splashy hire we want.

Woody is a self serving tool, he just wants to remind everybody that he recommended (fill in name here) when hired.

I agree. I'm actually not at all excited about Bronco Mendanhall. Your point is why I am so much more interested in Gary Anderson at USU. They are imo the best team in the state of Utah.

Bronco Mendenhall is not leaving BYU, and, although I think he's a solid guy and solid coach, he's most def not the right guy for CU.

Has a BYU head coach ever voluntarily left BYU for another job? I think the answer is no. BM is Mormon first, footbal coach second. At BYU, football takes a back seat to religion, and religion is integrated into the coaching. I don't know why WP would think BM would leave. Anything is possible, but this is HIGHLY unlikely.

This could be true

It would have been inthe works for some time. Bronco is a good to excellent coach. He is confrontational with the media and this has worn out some of the local fans. If it happened, I think he could turn around CU. I think he would only last 3-4 years before the fans and press turned on him, but he is a guy I believe could bring the program to respectability in that time.

Players love him. Currently the fan base is mad at him over QB controversy. In my mind he handeled a bad situation well in that his team turned on a 5* they had in and he had to make the best of what he had..

If he awas the guy, he would need a great OC. He has friends outside the LDS pedigree that I think could fit that bill well. He is not my first choice, but I would take him over Gary Anderson!

Bolded for truth. This thread sucks.

Anderson, D-Rudd, Diaco, McIntyre, Jones all over Mendenhall. Of course Strong, but.....I am just a dreamer in that one apparently.

You think kids would want to play for Bronco over Anderson? Please watch this interview:

Bronco Mendenhall on Taysom Hill's season-ending injury

I guess Bronco thinks it is funny to make terrible coaching mistakes.

Please make it stop.

Ha Ha. We got our QB who was Jim Harbaugh's prize recruit at Stanford hurt, because we are so dumb to call a timeout.

I watched that video and came away impressed. I didn't see him laughing about it, and in fact he took full responsibility on a couple occasions. It was freak accident, s**t happens when you play football. I do 't see what you're so upset about here?

He looks a little too happy. What does full responsibility mean? You really want a coach that can't figure out when a game is over and take a knee. Opps, my bad.

He said it was on him and his staff at least twice. What's your deal here? Did Bronco drink a soda in front of you or something?

Ok so we're now evaluating what a guy looks like when giving an interview, good way to judge a coach's ability.

What I saw was a guy say repeatedly that it was not the kid's fault, it was on him personally and the coaches for poor communication. But regardless, Bronco didn't run out there and smash his own QB's knee - injuries happen in football and the coach was taking the heat for an injury he really wasn't responsible for. Play calls get screwed up all the time, but it usually doesn't end up leading to an injury.
