Worst pullover of my life happened in Kansas. Be careful -- they search for Colorado plates and attack. I've driven through Kansas dozens of times.
When I was in traffic school there was a truck driver in there that said he got a ticket in Kansas for going 17 in a 15. We were all pretty floored.
Having driven the I-70 stretch of nothingness more than anyone ever should, I can say the HiPo's aren't as bad as the sheriffs. I usually do 79 (in the 75 zones) the whole way now and have never worried. Big trap areas are coming over and around the hill about 1 mile past the border and about the Ellsworth exit to Salina. After Salina, I don't know as I always head south from there.
For fuel stops, use gas buddy, it is usually accurate. I always use Dillons in Colby (Kroger store, so use your King Soopers card) it is about .5 mile north of I-70 or the Luv's in Ellis. They both usually have the cheapest prices.

Pulled back my "clean" bed on the way to see the Buffs at KSU, and there was hay under the covers.
Go to a Burlington junkyard right before crossing, grab some Nebraska plates off a junker and switch 'em out. Duh.
Also, Kansas patrol comes at you from behind (lol)
They'll legitimately hide, watch somebody speed past, and then go like 165 mph to catch up to you, match your speed and set their spedometer. That's how they know how fast your going. No radar gun.
Check your mirrors for maniacs coming up on you too fast.

Can you blame them for ticketing so much? People want to drive as fast as possible to get out of that damn state. Must be a great revenue source.
I've only had two tickets in Kansas after countless trips from CO to OK - one of which was done by them pacing me in an unmarked car. The last time I was pulled over, I did get off with a warning. Imagine my surprise.
They must keep their records forever as well. I had to disclose all speeding tickets for my bar application (that was horrible) and had to call both counties where I had received the speeding tickets. They found them within seconds and had them faxed over to me in five minutes. So I give them props for their efficiency. :lol:

Years ago, my dad got pulled over on I-76 out by Sterling for going 3 miles over the speed limit. They only gave him a warning, but he would never drive one mile over the speed limit after that when they came to see me once they hit Colorado. Nebraska--nobody seems to care how fast you drive.
I have family that lives there
I have family that's from there. Only small town in America where Main St. isn't the main street. Did 4mph over constant coming and going. No problems. Good trip.
My mom's parents grew up in and around Protection. I've only been there a few times. My grandma tells some crazy stories about the dust bowl in that area.
