Heisman....

Personally sick of the Heisman, tired of the bias against Defensive guys. I turn it off, don't even bother watching it.

My dad's high school team mate won the Heisman. It has lost a lot of luster since those days.

Man you literally have no ****ing idea what you are talking about. Manziel set numerous records this season and had better stats than both Tebow and Newton when they won their Heisman's. Te'o is a great player, but he wasn't on Manziel's level.

Gotta, as much as it pains me, agree with bigbang2. The Heisman has lost its luster.

That may be, but I don't think that is what bb2 was saying. There is absolutely an offensive bias but Te'o did not have good enough stats to warrant being the winner.

Manti Teo 7 Int for a MLB is impressive. Would probably be a top 5 pick in the NFL draft. But off course the SEC guy with huge offensive stats gets the trophy.

7 ints is nice. does not make one a HT winner.

please. go look up where MT ranks on the list of top tacklers on the ND stats. go look up where he ranks in the nation. that is the mlb's job. make tackles. not so much sacks.

he is a fine player. no question. he is no charles woodson. sorry.

overall, this years class was pretty weak, imo. i would have gone with the KjucoSt QB. i don't think anyone stacked up well this year compared to the winners years past nor some of the people that came in 2nd or 3rd over the past 10 or 20 years or so.

not basing this on some expert opinion of mine. just no one, nor any group of guys seemed to separate themselves this year from the pack like in other years.

Agree there is a bias against defense historically. However teo by stats, not popularity, not the best at his position let alone best defensive player. Not on ND not invited. Nice guy. Good player. Should be happy he is on nd and won what he won. Shouldnt have probably even won all those

I kind of feel a little bit bad for Manziel. His life just peaked at 18.

Especially now because he is going to have stratospheric expectations from here on out that will basically be impossible to live up to.

I love this...this is a huge jab to UT in Austin as well as a huge blow to the egos of UT fans. Watching a school that they could easily put down for years become successful in the SEC in their first year then their frost QB wins the Heisman.

This has been a good year for CU fans when it comes to their hate of the Nubs and Whirns. Nubs get their rears kicked in the B1G CCG and UT is marginalized in Texas due to A&M being a 'Bama loss away from playing in the SEC CCG and their star freshman QB wins the Heisman. I would love to see A&M beat OU which would be salt in the wounds of UT fans since OU crushed the puke orange cows in the RRS this year.

Manti Teo will laugh to the bank.

yep. and without the HT.

so what?

he is a very good player. he should be drafted highly. oh but, the nfl now has that new salary cap on rookies, don't they.....?

its still a nice paycheck. better than mine!

T´eo is a legit Top 5 pick ... Blackmon was drafted fifth overall last year and got a fully guaranteed 4 year contract worth 18.5m.

If he does as well as expected his second contract will be worth 10m per year easily.

sure. but nothing like what the top 5 were getting a couple years ago. like i said, still a nice pay check. i am not knocking it.

i have nothing against the kid. i hope he does well. he is just not a HT winner type, imo.

Jarvis Jones was the best defensive player this year, no question. If Teo wasn't on ND and they weren't having a great year there's no way he gets invited.

I would have either gone between Klein or JF.

Heisman is fun to talk about but in the end virtually meaningless. In a few years it may get close to recognizing the best player in college football but mostly it is the most hyped. For many years it was mostly RBs, now it is almost all QBs, sometimes you can get a TE mixed in.

It is supposed to be about the "Best player in college football." You can't tell me that the best player in college football has never been an OL or only once or twice been a defensive player.

It is also interesting to look at the distinct lack of professional success that a high percentage of Heisman winners have had. If the guy was truly the best player you would think that there would be a better shot at finding some success in the NFL.

Enjoy it for what it is, a hype fest, but don't read to much into it because it is basically meaningless except to the guy who wins it and the media relations department of his school.

Barrett Jones. That guy has been an all American at 3 different positions. He would have gotten my vote. He can block anyone.

Nope ....

the guy has a lot of life left. Two more years on a great aTm team, a beautiful wife, the NFL, more money than gawd, and 3.2 kids. Kids on his way up to the big game.

No kidding. Manziel is one of the most exciting players I've seen in a LONG time. A breath of fresh air.
