Ranking the Coaching Hires this off season......CU #23 out of 26

It was searches "in order of efficiency." I'd say ours wasn't very efficient. Our end result was very good.

Still doesn't make much sense to me, I saw the efficiency part too. They ranked San Jose State high! I think until we win some games and prove we aren't an inept program like the last few years we will always be on the bottom of every list, unless it is ranking mascots.

Neither was Wisconsin's or Tennessee's. What an awful list.

What he is rating is how quickly and cleanly the search and hire went. Wisconsin and Tennessee both did well in that regard. Do you understand the meaning of "efficiency?"

Tennessee whiffed on multiple people, same with Wisconsin. CU whiffed on Jones but got MacIntyre very quietly. Point is, CU isn't the only one who whiffed on a target and his pot shot at the press conference was absolutely stupid.

People, do we realize how irrelevant the ranking of our "Coaching Search Efficiency" is in the grand scheme of things? It shouldn't change your opinion of the hire one way or the other. No big deal, really.

I am bored at work on a friday before vacation and wanted to stir the pot a little. I love our hire. And don't really care either what this clownface says but it really struck me as odd how low were were considering HCMM is widely praised by all the "experts."

I think someone posted something here where the writer thought we had one of the best hires. So far he passes the red face test.

Just a stupid article. You can gush about Wisconsin getting as good hire without making a stupid list that doesn't hold up.

When you make a list about hiring efficiency and then complain that Utah State immediately hired an assistant and say that didn't qualify as a search and rank them low on your so called 'efficiency' list, then you're just an idiot.

Idiotic article. A proven winner like MikeMac at #23 when a 33 year old nobody like Kliff Kingsbury is ranked #7.

Beyond stupid...can I have the last 3 minutes of my life back please?

:yeahthat:

If MM ends up winning then everyone will forget how inefficient and clumsy the search was.

Meh. MacIntyre was ranked #19 when he was hired by San Jose State a few years ago. How'd that work out.

Generally speaking, each year there are a few obvious good hires (i.e. Urban Meyer last year by OSU), and there are few WTF hires (sadly, Jon Embree is an example). Most everyone else is somewhat of a crap shoot in the middle. I'm encouraged by what I see with our new coach, but time will tell.

Finally, the ranking seemed more of a shot at Bohn (as others have rightly pointed out).

Well depending what reports you want to believe, coach Mac may have been our Plan E so I can see where we may not be getting high marks here. Time will tell if he turns out to be a great coach and now it's up to coach Mac to prove them wrong...I hope he does.

What reports?

What reports?

The reports/rumors/tweets/whatever that we were after Butch Jones, Charlie Strong, Gary Anderson, Bronco Mendenhall, Dan Mullen, and maybe others before we landed on MacIntyre. I don't know how accurate most of that noise was, but it's clear that MacIntyre was not our top choice.

Oh right the posts where people don't care if they have any truth behind them and are just flinging **** around hoping it sticks

If Bohn inquired with a bunch of guys, I have not one issue with it. That is due diligence. Not inefficiency. But our courtship of BS did look awkward.

Only because dipwad Jones made it look that way! What kind of a "major" candidate hides behind a food cart to avoid having his photo taken?

The little incident took away any warm feelings I might have had for Jones from the start. What a tool! IThe act said he was playing CU from the beginning. Good riddence. UT will eat him and his charming family, alive!

As for Dodd, his bluster reminds me of a washed-up, dive bar drunk, trying to impress some sleazy waitress or sketchy lady at the opposite end of the bar.

The Butch Jones courtship was most certainly real. Now you're free to believe that Coach Mac was the 2nd person on their list, but I don't. I'm sure there was plenty of misinformation out there, but we could have had Mac days after firing Embree if that's who they really wanted.

The Jones was absolutely true. The others? Slinging **** at a wall.

M'kay, far be it from me to argue with an expert at flinging s**t.

Let's assume for a minute that I accept that Coach Mac was our second choice (I really don't think Butch Jones was our first choice, but that's neither here nor there), I can see why a reporter removed from our situation might not rate this a great hire considering how publicly we were snubbed by Jones.

I'm not saying that MacIntyre was out #2 option, but that the reports of others with Golden, Mullen, etc were just people throwing **** at the wall hoping it would stick. The CU AD went about MacIntyre very quietly. Other than Ol' man Mac goin off the rail it was not that un-efficient.

Cincinnati hired Butch Jones' replacement before we hired our coach, which tells me we were hitting on a lot of coaches and not getting laid until we threw $2M in front of Mac and he gave it up.

Mac may turn out great, but I don't have any argument with someone who wasn't enamored with him or CU's hiring process which appeared to be drawn out and contain a fair amount of rejection.

Wisconsin's, UT's, Auburn's, Cal's, and Arky's search took nearly, if not as long with multiple people turning them down.

I'm not sure who turned those other jobs down other than Les Miles and Arky and Chris Peterson and everybody but regardless I think it's not a stretch to say each one if those schools hired someone more highly sought after than CU.
